The deadlock of materialistic psychology.

Friends, in this post, we will examine the most important criterion for choosing a mentor, psychologist, or coach. This criterion is that the mentor should not be an atheist. And this criterion can also be called "going beyond the limits of the mind".

🕉Only one who is connected to a higher meaning and is not limited by the framework of a materialistic worldview can provide real help.

The problem with most modern academic approaches to psychology is that they try to heal the mind with the mind itself. This is like trying to pull yourself out of a swamp by your own hair.

✍️Albert Einstein once said a brilliant thing:

"No problem can be solved at the same level of consciousness at which it was created."

Our psychological problems, depressions, fears, and complexes are born at the level of the material mind. If a psychologist is an atheist, he believes that a person is just a biological machine, a set of chemical reactions and neural connections. He works on the same plane where the problem arose.

Such an approach may provide temporary relief, you can, so to speak, "tighten the screws", prescribe medications or suggest mental exercises. But it does not provide a way out into a different dimension. It cannot answer the question "Why?".

✍️Victor Frankl wrote: "If there is a 'why', there will always be a 'how'."

The answer to the question "why" means understanding the meaning of what is happening: why this came into my life, what lesson is hidden in it, what exactly I need to learn, what to transform within myself. When a person finds their "why", an inner vector appears, and then inevitably a tool - that very "how": a way, a path, a practice, a solution that allows you to go through the situation correctly.

A mentor with a spiritual vision (not to be confused with religious fanaticism) understands that a person is not just a body and a mind. It is primarily a transcendent soul.

When a mentor recognizes the existence of a higher principle, his work acquires a vertical dimension. He helps you rise above the problem, look at it from the level of eternity and destiny.

❌ The atheistic approach seeks to blame others (parents, circumstances, genes).

✅ The spiritual approach seeks lessons and a path of development.

If a psychologist believes in God (or in a higher intelligence, cosmic order, spiritual nature), he sees in a person not a "patient with a diagnosis", but a pure soul temporarily entangled in the nets of illusion.

🤔Why can't we become truly happy just by "working through" childhood traumas? Because the nature of our psyche is spiritual. The word "psychology" comes from the Greek psyche - soul. How, then, can we truly study psychology by denying the existence of the soul?

✍️Quotes from psychologist Alexander Matyash:

"Our psyche is designed in such a way that we can only be happy if we develop spiritually."

"Spirituality is something that expands the horizons of consciousness beyond our current incarnation."

... Read moreFrom my own experience, I've found that addressing mental health issues requires more than just conventional therapy focused on the physical brain and behaviors. While cognitive techniques and medications can help alleviate symptoms temporarily, the true breakthrough comes when you consider the spiritual dimension of the psyche. Our minds are not isolated machines; we are beings connected to something greater than ourselves—whether you define that as a soul, higher intelligence, or cosmic order. When I first sought therapy, my psychologist adhered strictly to the materialistic view, emphasizing neurochemistry and behavioral modification. Although I noticed some improvement, the deeper anxieties and existential questions about my life's purpose remained unresolved. It was only after working with a mentor who embraced a spiritual framework that I began to find answers to the "why" behind my struggles. This shift helped me see my challenges not as random or purely biological malfunctions but as opportunities for growth and transformation. This perspective aligns with the wisdom of Victor Frankl, who emphasized the importance of finding meaning to endure and overcome suffering. Spiritual-oriented psychology offers a vertical approach, allowing one to rise above immediate problems and view them from the vantage point of destiny and eternal meaning. It helps us transcend blaming external factors and instead seek valuable lessons and personal development paths embedded in life's difficulties. Moreover, recognizing the soul's role expands the scope of healing by integrating mindfulness, meditation, and other practices that connect us to our higher selves. This holistic approach nurtures not just the brain but the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. In my personal journey, embracing spirituality within psychology was the key that unlocked sustainable happiness and inner peace. For anyone feeling stuck in traditional therapy, exploring this integrative path may pave the way to genuine psychological and spiritual wholeness.
