What is PCOS and how it affects my life…

It can cause irregular periods, weight gain, fertility issues, mood changes, and more. But the hardest part? Most people don’t even know how deeply it affects your everyday life.

After having my daughter, my body changed in ways I never expected.

I gained weight very fast, even though I wasn’t eating much—and everyone had something to say. But no one knew the truth: I was silently battling PCOS.

The irregular periods, the painful ovulation, the mood swings, the brain fog—it wasn’t just physical. It was mental and emotional, too. I constantly felt dismissed or ignored when I spoke about my pain sometimes…

Thankfully I was blessed with a OBGYN who listened and offered many ways to help manage my issues!

If you’re going through this, please know: you’re not alone.

✨ You’re not “lazy” for gaining weight—your hormones are at war with your body.

✨ You’re not “crazy” for how emotional you feel—this condition impacts your mind, too.

✨ You’re not weak for struggling—you’re actually stronger than most could ever imagine.

What’s helped me so far:

🌿 Listening to my body instead of punishing it.

🥗 Eating whole, hormone-friendly foods (and letting go of guilt).

🧘🏽‍♀️ Moving my body with love, not shame.

📚 Learning everything I can about PCOS so I can advocate for myself.

💬 Talking to other women who get it. Community is everything. And you may think you’re the only one going through it, but you’re not!

We deserve support. We deserve answers. And we deserve to be believed.

... Read morePolycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a hormonal disorder that affects many women and can manifest in various ways, including irregular menstrual cycles, weight gain, and mood changes. Women with PCOS often experience insulin resistance, which can complicate weight management. Embracing a whole-foods-based diet rich in nutrients can help regulate blood sugar levels and improve overall health. Exercise, particularly when approached with love and acceptance, can also provide significant physical and mental benefits. Additionally, education is vital. Understanding PCOS empowers women to advocate for their health, seek appropriate medical advice, and explore treatment options. Sharing experiences with others facing similar challenges via support groups or online forums can foster community and reduce feelings of isolation. Recognizing that PCOS is not merely a physical condition but also a mental and emotional one is crucial in developing a comprehensive approach to self-care. Celebrate small victories along the way, and remember that with the right support and resources, living well with PCOS is entirely achievable.
