Morning vs. Night – Are You Doing It Righ ⁉️

2025/6/24 Edited to

... Read moreOkay, so we've all seen the 'morning vs. night routine' graphics, but let's be real – actually doing it right and understanding why each step matters can be a game-changer! When I first started my skincare journey, I was so confused about what to use when. After a lot of trial and error (and some less-than-glowing skin days!), I’ve figured out some key insights that I wish I knew earlier. Let's dive deeper into the morning routine. You might wonder, 'Do I really need to wash my face with a cleanser if I just cleansed last night?' My answer: it depends on your skin type and what you did overnight. For those with oily skin or if you've applied heavy night treatments, a gentle foam or gel cleanser can be beneficial to remove excess oils and product residue. But if your skin is dry or sensitive, a quick rinse with lukewarm water followed by a toner might be enough to refresh without stripping. The goal is to prep your skin, not punish it! After cleansing (or rinsing!), toner is your unsung hero. It balances your skin's pH, removes any last traces of impurities, and primes your skin to better absorb the next steps. I've found that patting it in gently with my hands or using a cotton pad works wonders. Then comes the serum – this is where you tackle specific concerns. In the morning, I usually go for a Vitamin C serum for antioxidant protection and brightening. Remember, a little goes a long way! Next, eye cream. The delicate skin around our eyes needs special attention; it’s thinner and more prone to showing signs of aging. Gently tap it around your orbital bone, not too close to the lash line. And finally, for your morning routine: face cream and SPF. Even if your face cream has SPF, I always recommend a dedicated sunscreen. This is non-negotiable, folks! Protecting your skin from UV damage is the best anti-aging step you can take. I aim for at least SPF 30, even on cloudy days. Apply generously and let it absorb before makeup. Now, onto the night routine – this is where the real repair and regeneration happen. The first step, and probably the most crucial, is makeup removal. Don't even think about skipping this! I swear by double cleansing. First, I use a cleansing oil or micellar water to dissolve makeup, sunscreen, and daily grime. It's amazing how much comes off! Then, I follow up with a foam, gel, or milk cleanser to thoroughly clean my skin, ensuring no residue is left behind. This two-step process has transformed my skin, preventing breakouts and allowing my treatment products to work better. After cleansing, a quick swipe of toner helps reset my skin. For my night serum, I often switch to something focused on repair, like a retinol or a hydrating hyaluronic acid serum. These active ingredients work best overnight when your skin is in regeneration mode. Again, eye cream is a must, perhaps a richer formula at night. And finally, a substantial face cream or night cream. This locks in all the goodness and provides deep hydration while you sleep. Think of it as giving your skin a cozy blanket for the night! One last tip: always apply your products from thinnest to thickest consistency. This ensures maximum absorption. And remember, consistency is key – stick with your routine, and your skin will thank you!
