Prestige Not Made of Power: Notes from a Small Teacher in a Big World

To count back to the days of graduation in 2002 with a professional certificate and a memorized teacher ethic that day, one would believe that time would spin so quickly that today it is already in middle age. On a professional path of more than 20 years, I find that the meaning of the word "teacher" does not depend on the pantomime worn, but it is "inherently" that we pass on to children.

I once had the position of assistant president, ran a curriculum, ran a big school project, but in my most vivid memory, it wasn't when I was sitting on a big desk, but when I was acting "little," a normal staff officer, or a little teacher that kids would hug.

I found one fact that Saturday-Sunday masters are not meant to make us look bigger than anyone, but to incubate maturity and the potential for knowledge so that we can use it to hold children more firmly.

Mercy: A Language That Doesn't Need Voices

For 10 years in the first school, and then two invaluable years in the second place, and then 10 years at home, I raised a child as a baby until I sent them to the sixth grade of my dream, and the only thing that was a compass was "kindness."

I'm always proud to be a teacher that kids don't have to be frightened and confident that no kid hates because I choose to be unprejudiced. Not having power at hand allows us to see kids the way they really are, see kids in trouble with understandable eyes, not judging eyes.

Small...But happy.

On the day the city situation changed, I expanded to pursue another career at the pace of my life, but wherever I went, I always chose to be a "little person," because it was light and comfortable.

"We do not have to show power, but to be considerate. That is true prestige."

Prestige stems not from command but from the consistent actions, natural humility, and sincerity available to fellow humans. Today, in middle age, I look in the mirror and smile at the same "little teacher" who finished the year 45...People who remain convinced that humility is power, and compassion is the most precious treasure in life as a teacher.

Now, as I reached middle age and looked back on over 20 years of teaching, I had a simple truth: the meaning of being a "teacher" isn't about the titles we hold, but the "essence" we give to our students.

Leaving the Title Behind, Letting the Heart Bloom

At one point, I held the position of Assistant to the Rector.I designed curums and managed major school projects.Yet, my clearest memories aren't of sitting at a big executive desk. Instead, I remember the times I acted as a "junior" - running documents like a simple staff member, or being a "small" teacher whom children felt safe enough to walk up and hug.

I learned that studying for my Master's degree on weekends wasn't about becoming "bigger" than anyone else. It was about growing my "maturity" and potential to match my knowledge, so I could support my students with more stability and wishdom.

Kindness: The Language of Silence

From my first 10 years at a school, to two meaningful years at another, and finally 10 years of teaching at home - I have cared for children from their infancy until they finished high school. My only compass has been "Kindness."

I am proud to be a teacher whom children do not fear. I am confident that none of my students hate me because I choose to live without prejudice. Having no "power" allowed me to see them for who they truly are. I saw children with problems through the eyes of understanding, not judgment.

Being Small...But being happy

As the world changed, I moved into other careers to suit the times. But no matter where I went, I always chose to be a "small person." There is a certain lightness and peace in being small.

True respect isn't born from giving orders; it comes from consistent actions, natural humility, and sincere kindness towards others. Today, looking in the mirror, I smile at that "small teacher" from the class of 2002... The one who still believes that humility is strength, and kindness is the most precious treasure in a teacher's life.
