A Unicorn? (How it was done!)
I’ve gotten quite a few questions about the products and techniques I used to create my unicorn look, so I figured I would make a post about it!
First thing’s first, my garb! My boots are actually older than I am. They’re from the Wolverine brand, but unfortunately aren’t in production anymore. 😅 My blouse was thrifted, and my skirt and jingle belt came from Amazon. My belt is from my favorite Texas costume shop (Danny’s Trix and Kix)! And of course, my lovely horn was bought from UnicornCornerEU on Etsy! (You can find them on Insta!)
Now for the makeup.
I started with my base. Primer, foundation, powder, and a little bit of blush. Then I added some metallic gold freckles with a wetliner and a small brush.
For my eyes I based things out in warm browns and some pinky/gold shimmers to just get a simple wash of color on my lids. From there I defined my eyes with some winged liner and I extended my inner corner a bit. (I based the wing in a pencil liner, then defined it with a water activated face paint in a color I liked.)
To compliment my eyes I smudged pinky tones up from the front of my brows.
To contour my nose, I took a warm brown and sketched out shadows leading from my drawn on inner corner, straight down my nose, around the bottom of the tip of my nose, and around the other side. Then I blended out the outer edge with some of those pinky neutrals I used on my eyes (keeping the center of my nose sharp to help the illusion).
Then I drew on my new nose with the same lipstick I ended up using on my top lip (smearing a bit of the color onto my bottom without fully coating it. I wanted my top lip to look darker).
To finish things off, I added gold shimmer to my bottom lip and underneath the center of my eye, and I added a healthy amount of mascara AFTER I sprayed my face with setting spray.
