Why Consistency Feels So Hard

I've always struggled with consistency. Especially when I put in daily effort but I haven't seen any significant results yet. Because this can feel discouraging, recently, I've started tracking my thoughts and milestones. Writing down my progress have been motivating me to keep going.

... Read moreConsistency can often feel elusive, especially when the results of our daily efforts aren’t immediately visible. From my personal experience, one key to overcoming this challenge is creating a structured method to track your progress. For example, using tools like to-do lists, journals, or apps to record milestones can transform abstract goals into tangible achievements. The photo from NewLeaf StationeryCo’s planner shows a detailed task list, which reveals how breaking down big tasks into smaller actions can create a sense of accomplishment and keep momentum going. Another helpful method is reflecting regularly on both successes and setbacks. Writing down not just what you did, but also how you felt during the process, can reveal patterns that either help or hinder your progress. This kind of mindful awareness turns consistency from a difficult habit into a more manageable practice. It’s also important to be kind to yourself during this journey. I’ve found that celebrating small wins—like completing a weekly weigh-in or finishing a rough draft—can boost motivation more than focusing only on long-term goals. This approach reduces frustration and keeps the mind engaged. Lastly, joining communities around your goals, such as forums for #GoalSetting or online groups, provides support and accountability. Sharing your milestones with others fosters encouragement and can help maintain your commitment. Consistency is less about perfection and more about persistence. With patience and the right strategies, making steady progress becomes an achievable and rewarding experience.

This slide provides two tips for consistency: "START SMALL" by breaking goals into tiny, manageable actions (e.g., 5 minutes of exercise), and "BE INTENTIONAL" by clearly stating when and where habits will be performed (e.g., 30-minute walk at 7 a.m.).
