Late night high protein snack!
Im always craving a sweet treat after dinner but a lot of desserts don’t end up working with my macros so I tried 3 flavors of no cow protein bars (from Whole Foods) to see if they could satisfy my sweet tooth and still fit into my nutrition plan 🫡
Firstly, I am lactose intolerant and these protein bars are specifically branded to be dairy free which is such a plus! 🐄
Now for the flavors
chocolate salted caramel- I was honestly so impressed by this flavor, it didn’t have a heavy whey taste that a lot of other protein bars have, however, I could taste a lingering taste of stevia/artificial sweetener which I’m not a fan of. The salted caramel flavor was pretty spot on and I was a fan of of the dipped coating which helped add different textures to the bar!
chocolate fudge brownie- this flavor was slightly less sweet than the chocolate salted caramel and a little bit chalkier, I wasn’t a big fan but for 20g protein it wasn’t as bad as other flavors I’ve had. I think fudge taste wasn’t as present
keylime pie-I love to see a citrus protein bar on the market! Very refreshing and a change of pace. The artificial sweetener taste was still present but the keylime kind of masks it. The density of the bar was also nice to making this bar more decadent. This bar is also dipped so there’s a better layer of flavors
All in all, for a late night snack it works! I’ll still be trying out different brands, let me know what I should try next
