The reason why pregnant people are hungry often
Pregnancy is very common because the body is using extra energy to feed both mother and baby. The main reasons are:
- Hormones change.
- Hormones during pregnancy affect appetite, make you feel hungry more often or want to eat something.
- The body needs more energy. Especially during trimester 2-3, the body needs energy for infant growth, placenta, amniotic fluid and changes of the mother body.
- Blood sugar decreases quickly.
- Some pregnant people will feel hungry because the body burns faster and sugar levels swing easily.
- You grow up, press your stomach, and you can eat a little at a time, but you're full soon, so you're hungry again.
- Little sleep or tiredness. Fatigue can stimulate appetite, too.
How to help reduce healthy frequent hunger:
- Eat smaller meals, but more often.
- Increase protein and fiber such as eggs, nuts, fish, vegetables, fruits.
Carry a useful snack.
- Drink enough water because the body is sometimes confused between hungry and thirsty.
But if unusually hungry, together with:
- Weight up so fast.
- Often thirsty.
- Abnormal frequent urination.
- Dizzy. Hands shaking.
Should consult a doctor because it may be related to gestational diabetes.
