Period Pain Wasn’t Normal!
For years, I thought period pain was just something every woman pushed through. My mom said it. My friends said it. Even the school nurse said, “Yeah honey, cramps are normal.”
But mine were brutal—crying on the bathroom floor, throwing up from the pain, shaking so hard I couldn’t stand. One time I even passed out in the shower. Still, everyone told me the same thing: “It’s part of being a woman.”
It wasn’t until a friend dragged me to her OB-GYN after seeing me curl up on her couch that someone finally took me seriously. After tests, the doctor looked at me and said, “This is not normal. You have endometriosis.”
That one sentence flipped my whole world. Years of pain suddenly made sense. I wasn’t “bad at handling cramps.” I was sick and no one ever thought to check.
What did you think was normal for women until someone finally told you the truth?

Not something I ever believed but my mother tried to teach me that boys only bully me because they like me. I humbled them every chance I got.
