Tips for Production Assistants@Fashion Photoshoots
One of the many roles I play in Digital Marketing is assisting with our company's lifestyle photoshoots! This includes booking and choosing talent, assisting with shot list, and capturing BTS content to be used as evergreen content for our socials! Here's the tips I'd give to someone on their first photoshoot:
1. 📸Choose talent with diverse portfolios! This is important for shoots where you want a variety of vibes: smiley, it-girl, sultry, serious, etc.
2. 🕶️Bring additional props for day-of! This can include extra sunglasses, purses, claw clips, hair ties, headphones, hats, and more, Usually my company will stop for some coffee or matcha and use that as a prop as well :)
3. 👀Pay attention to detail, especially when it comes to the way clothing falls or a model's hair. A lot of times sweaters or loose-fitting tops can wrinkle or bunch up as models change poses. Offer to step in to tuck a small piece of hair behind the shoulder or to straighten out a sweatshirt to get clean shots that need less retouching.
4. ⏰Keep your eye on the time. In order to make shoots run smoothly and make sure it doesn't go over time, take a look at the shot list and locations to make sure poses are being shot on time.
