5 Biotech companies that hire nurses!

There are so many opportunities for nurses, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants to get into biotech! It can be hard to navigate because I often hear that people have no clue where to start their search!

Let’s break it down. A biotech company basically is a company that combines biology and technology to create healthcare products (think medical devices, drugs, tech platforms). I’ve found that they love nurses and clinicians because we have clinical expertise that a lot of folks within those companies lack! We also offer patient insights because we have direct experience with patients and physicians (these are their big customer pools).

The way that I like to start my search is by 1st keeping in mind which companies hire us. In my experience I’ve seen many postings come out of these 5 companies. If you’re new, I’d keep these in your radar and sign up for job alerts!

1. **Guardant**: A biotechnology company specializing in non-invasive cancer detection through blood testing and genomic analysis.

2. **Legend Biotech**: Focuses on developing innovative cell therapies, particularly CAR-T treatments for various cancers.

3. **Exact Sciences**: A molecular diagnostics company that develops tests for early cancer detection, including colorectal cancer screening.

4. **Natera**: A genetic testing company that provides non-invasive prenatal testing and solutions for reproductive health and oncology.

5. **Octave Biosciences**: A biotechnology company that develops precision medicine for multiple sclerosis.

Companies like Guardant highlight the potential of non-invasive cancer detection, while Legend Biotech is pioneering innovative treatments in cell therapy. Exact Sciences focuses on molecular diagnostics, providing early cancer detection solutions through advancements in technology. Natera specializes in genetic testing, particularly in reproductive health, offering non-invasive prenatal testing and comprehensive oncology solutions. Finally, Octave Biosciences is dedicated to precision medicine, improving outcomes for multiple sclerosis patients. For nurses interested in transitioning to biotech, networking within these companies and understanding their needs will be crucial. Staying updated with industry trends and job alerts will give you a competitive edge in securing a rewarding position in this fast-growing field. By bridging clinical knowledge with technological advancements, nurses can contribute significantly to enhancing patient care and driving innovations in healthcare delivery.
