After the extraction, proper care is crucial to promote healing and prevent complications like dry socket or infection. You should avoid vigorous rinsing, heavy physical activities, or smoking in the first 24-48 hours. Applying a cold compress can help reduce swelling and discomfort. Eating soft foods that don’t require much chewing is recommended in the first few days post-surgery. Also, keeping the extraction site clean by gentle rinsing with a saltwater solution after 24 hours supports healing. Maintaining good oral hygiene overall is essential, but be gentle around the surgical site. If you experience severe pain, excessive bleeding, or signs of infection such as fever and swelling, contacting your dentist or oral surgeon quickly is important for timely care. My personal approach was to prioritize rest and follow my dentist’s instructions closely, which really helped ease the recovery process.
