First Of The L.O.R.D.S Series…

The Ritual

By Shantel Tessier

Well I am currently on a #bookbuyingban until I’ve demolished 1/2 of my current purchased #tbr BUT IF I WASNT I would have purchased the whole LORDS series already 😭 trying to read as fast as I can at this point!

#QOTD Everyone I have talked to about the LORDS series has said “The Sinner” is the best one! Which book was your favorite?

To The Blurb…

THE CHOSEN ONE

Barrington University is home of the Lords, a secret society that requires their blood in payment. They are above all—the most powerful men in the world. They devote their lives to violence in exchange for power. And during their senior year, they are offered a chosen one.

I VOW. YOU VOW. WE VOW.

People think growing up with money is freeing, but I promise you, it’s not. My entire life has been planned out for me. I never got the chance to do what I wanted until Ryat Alexander Archer came along and gave me an option for a better life. He offered me what no one else ever had—freedom.

I chose to be his. He made me believe that anyway, but it was just another lie. A way that the Lords manipulate you into doing what they want.

After being sucked into the dark, twisted world of the Lords, I embraced my new role and allowed Ryat to parade me around like the trophy I was to him. But like all things, what started out as a game soon became a fight for survival. And the only way out was deaOhio th.

... Read moreOkay, fellow bookworms, let's talk about the LORDS series, specifically 'The Ritual.' I'm currently fighting a #bookbuyingban, but honestly, this series is making it SO hard! If you're like me and obsessed with dark college romance, secret societies, and that intoxicating blend of danger and desire, then you absolutely need to add this to your TBR. What truly draws me in is the whole 'dark college secret society romance' trope. Barrington University, the Lords, the idea of a 'chosen one'—it all just screams high stakes and forbidden allure. The blurb itself promises a world where power is bought with blood, and life is planned out until a certain Ryat Alexander Archer comes along. It's that tension between wanting freedom and being manipulated by a powerful, shadowy group that makes these stories so addictive. You know it's going to be morally gray, intense, and probably very steamy, which is exactly what I crave in this subgenre. And let's not forget the aesthetic! The book cover for 'The Ritual' perfectly sets the tone. With its brooding figure, a man with half his face painted like a skull, set against a gothic architectural background, it immediately conveys the dark, mysterious vibe. The tagline, 'SHE IS TO SERVE AND OBEY HIM. HE WILL PROTECT AND OWN HER,' is just chef's kiss for anyone into possessive, protective, and slightly unhinged heroes. It’s the kind of visual that makes you want to immediately dive into the pages and unravel the secrets within. This isn't your average fluffy college romance; it's gritty, intense, and visually captivating. For those of us who love a good dark academia aesthetic mixed with a secret society element, 'The Ritual' delivers. The idea of these powerful men, above the law, operating in the shadows of a prestigious university, is just so compelling. It's the perfect blend of mystery, danger, and romance that keeps you turning pages way past your bedtime. While I'm only just starting, I can already tell this series is going to be a wild ride. Everyone I've chatted with says 'The Sinner' is the best, which only makes me more desperate to get through 'The Ritual' and the rest of the series! If you're hesitating to jump into the LORDS series, or specifically 'The Ritual,' don't! Embrace the dark, mysterious world, the intense characters, and the captivating aesthetic. It's a journey into a secret society that promises to be anything but ordinary. What are your thoughts on dark college romances or the Lords series? Let me know!
