The Breath, Body, and Blood 🔃

For a long time I thought breath was simply a side effect of being alive, yet I’ve realized it’s one of the most complex processes that is an integral component to earth and her existence. The earth and the universe breathe as we do, metaphorically speaking, and may these small nuggets of information spark a connection by using your unique experience as the translator.

It’s estimated that an average person takes 7.5 million breaths per year. This estimate is based on an adult resting rate of 12–20 breaths per minute, which averages out to over 20,000 breaths per day. (Essentially, you’ll take more breaths than a majority of basic subconscious actions)

What’s beautiful about this cycle is its impact on the Earth Experience as a whole.

Inhaled oxygen is carried by blood to tissues to generate energy for daily activity. Breathing pure oxygen improves blood flow and circulation, ensuring nutrients reach cells more efficiently.

Exhaling removes carbon dioxide, preventing the blood from becoming too acidic. Proper, deep breathing cleanses the body and increases oxygen levels, boosting immune responses.

Deep breathing acts as an activation of the parasympathetic nervous system, reducing stress, lowering heart rate, and reducing blood pressure. Respiratory muscles (diaphragm and ribs) continuously expand and contract. Deep breathing can help reduce muscle tension. Lowers stress by triggering the relaxation response, decreasing stress hormones like cortisol. Improves sleep by helping calm the body to assist in falling asleep. Reduces pain by releasing endorphins, which act as natural pain relievers.

Focused breathing improves concentration and can alleviate anxiety or depression.

Exhaled air drives the vocal cords, enabling talking.

In short, the body, Earth, and Universe has the potential to make the most out of life, and it all starts with breath.

O-Live-in-Love 🫶🏼

Writers Note: This post has been in my drafts for a while, and I’ve been nudged to release my incomplete thoughts. May this make a positive ripple of Love and reach those it’s meant to reach.

... Read moreBreathing is often taken for granted, yet its profound impact on our well-being and the environment is truly fascinating. From my personal experience, practicing deep, mindful breathing daily has transformed how I manage stress and connect with the world around me. Incorporating breathwork techniques such as diaphragmatic breathing or alternate nostril breathing not only calms the nervous system but also improves blood circulation, enhancing the delivery of oxygen to every cell. The concept that the Earth and Universe metaphorically breathe alongside us offers a beautiful perspective on our interconnectedness. This imagery reminds me to slow down and synchronize my breath with the rhythms of nature, fostering a sense of unity and calm. When I feel overwhelmed, focusing on slow exhalations helps release tension and recalibrate my energy. Moreover, conscious breathing stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system, which plays a crucial role in reducing heart rate and lowering blood pressure, promoting relaxation and better sleep quality. I've noticed that after even a few minutes of intentional breathing exercises, my clarity improves, anxiety diminishes, and mood lifts. The phrase "you are still breathing, you are not done" resonates deeply. It serves as a powerful reminder to keep going, as each breath is an opportunity for renewal and resilience. This concept has encouraged me through challenging times, knowing that as long as I breathe, I have the strength to continue. Incorporating breath awareness into daily life can unlock numerous health benefits — from natural pain relief through endorphin release to enhanced vocal expression and mental focus. Embracing breath as a vital life force helps make the most out of our existence, connecting body, Earth, and cosmos in a meaningful cycle of life and energy.
