Do you thinking holding your baby too much is bad?

Since I’ve had my first child it’s all I hear don’t hold the baby too much she will become spoiled but my thing is why would I let my child cry or reject her from my affection, attention, and love especially knowing she can’t talk and say what she wants 🤨. I’ll always pick my child first i don’t care that much for the opinions of others that much what do my moms think?? #lemon8diarychallenge #firsttimemom #notyourbaby #momlife #momsoflemon8

💭What's on my mind: Do I spoil my child or is it just love ?

... Read moreAs a fellow parent, I completely resonate with the struggle of balancing unsolicited advice with your natural instinct to shower your baby with love. The classic 'don't hold them too much, you'll spoil them' line is something I’ve heard countless times, and honestly, it always made me question my own parenting choices. But here’s the wonderful truth many experts confirm: you absolutely cannot spoil a newborn with too much love and affection. For infants, being held, cuddled, and responded to isn't about manipulation; it's about survival and building a secure attachment. Their cries are their only language, their way of communicating a need – whether it's hunger, a wet diaper, or simply the need for comfort and closeness. Responding to these needs helps them learn that the world is a safe place and that their primary caregivers are reliable. This constant reassurance fosters emotional security, which is crucial for healthy brain development. When your baby feels safe and loved, their stress hormones are lower, allowing their brains to focus on growth and learning. Holding your baby isn't just about physical closeness; it's about creating a profound bond. It helps regulate their temperature, breathing, and even heart rate. Plus, those cuddles are good for us parents too, releasing oxytocin – the 'love hormone' – which strengthens our connection. Beyond just holding, there are so many ways we can keep our little ones feeling secure and cherished. Babywearing, for instance, is a lifesaver! It allows you to keep your baby close, satisfying their need for contact, while still having your hands free for daily tasks. Think about those moments when you need to get things done but your baby just wants to be near. A good baby carrier or wrap can be a game-changer. Creating a soothing environment also plays a big role. I remember relying heavily on a baby soother with calming sounds or gentle lights to help my little one settle down when I couldn't always be holding them. It's about finding tools that complement your love and make your baby feel safe and comforted. From a cozy bath with their favorite bath organizer toys to ensuring they have a comfortable (and clean!) silicone bib during meal times, every small detail contributes to their overall well-being. And let's not forget the practical side of baby care that supports comfort. Having all those essential baby accessories like soft hats to keep them warm or an insulated bottle ready for feedings can make life so much smoother. Even mundane tasks like sterilizing bottles with a bottle cleaning brush and drying them on absorbent drying mats become part of the ritual of caring for your little one, ensuring they're always comfortable and healthy. These items, though seemingly small, contribute to a nurturing environment where your baby thrives. As they grow, preparing their food with a baby food preparation system ensures they get nutritious meals, another way we show our care. All these elements, from direct cuddles to thoughtful preparation, are about meeting their needs. It’s easy to get caught up in other people’s opinions, especially when you’re a first-time mom navigating uncharted waters. But remember, you are your baby’s best advocate. Trust your instincts. If holding your baby feels right, if it brings you both joy and comfort, then you are doing exactly what your baby needs. You’re not spoiling them; you’re nurturing them into a secure, loved individual ready to explore the world with confidence, knowing they have a safe base to return to. So, next time someone suggests you're holding your baby 'too much,' just smile and know that you're simply giving them exactly what they crave and deserve: unconditional love.

You can’t spoil a baby by showing them love🥰 you’re just showing your baby that you’ll always be there for them

It is *technically* not the best because it’s said to be the reason baby gets cone head, but it’s not spoiling them to hold them often.
