✍️ Sharing an EP.1 investment experience, learning a language in New Zealand at the age of 30.

Because life is "investment." This word is not exaggerated.

Today we are going to share with you one of the most important investments in our lives, the decision to learn more English at the age of 30. ‼️

We had a stable job at the time, as the head of a design department, a graduate of a bachelor's degree and a master's degree. One day, my mother asked, "Don't you want to learn more languages?"

This sentence is the starting point for us to think about and decide to go to study because we want to have the experience of living and studying abroad once and want to improve our English skills as a supplementary skill to work in the future, which your parents agree and support.

Once we have decided, we find out. It took us a lot of time to find out and prepare. Almost a year to finalize the choice of where to study, what school, what course, how much it cost, how long it took without making all our own decisions. There are parents to help us decide. (Please sponsor the cost.)

📝 Finally, we decided to quit at the age of 30! We went to study English for a 28-week Intensive English course (student visa for an additional 4 weeks. In total, we stayed for almost eight months). We studied at Southern Lake English College, Queenstown, New Zealand.

💰 investment budget: Tuition is about 3 lakh baht, not including accommodation, eating, travel expenses. In total, we should spend about 6 lakh baht.

🍽️ Note: During school, we can work for 20 hours / week. We apply for a Thai restaurant. For a while, I was a waiter. The money I earned from work is spent on traveling with my friends.

📌 Summary of what has been made of this investment.

- I have developed English from knowing only gramma but not very brave to speak. I have a lot better listening skills because I have friends of different races and different accents. It took me about 3 months to adjust. After that, I started listening and talking more. I started the course at the Pre-intermediate level and finished at the Upper-intermediate level. (Not up to Advance. Time is up.)

- Experience the life of being alone, doing anything on our own, living on our own, which we never have at home, because we usually have parents to guide us. This class opens up a lot of new experiences for us, and learn that we can do many things on our own, make our own decisions, solve our own problems, make us dare to live more, no longer afraid. 😁

- We have a lot of friends from France, Spain, we are mainly South America, such as Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, but there are also close friends from Japan, Korea, Vietnam, as well as Europe. We have a lot of friends from France, Spain. We have learned culture, language exchange, food, stories from a lot of different countries. (Most friends are younger than us 😆, but there are friends who are older than us, so no matter how old you are, you can learn.)

- Experience in a career that I don't think I will do is as a waiter and cashier. It's a great experience. I learned a lot of dish-holding techniques, talking to customers, preparing before opening, closing cleaners, and practicing more languages.

- Living in a very beautiful city. The weather is nice. The people are friendly and nature. It's really funny. We chose to go to this city because we like the quiet atmosphere and beauty of nature. We can also rent a car to drive to other cities in the South Island. Everywhere is really beautiful. And when we got to the end of the summer, we lived for almost 4 seasons. When we returned to the end of winter, early spring, it was great. ☺️

.

.

All of this is seen as a very rewarding investment. Really, because what we have acquired will carry us for the rest of our lives. Back, we apply for a job, get a higher salary, use the language to work, so we are not afraid to speak English again.

If anyone has a chance to go, we would like to encourage everyone to try it. 😊 And don't forget to come back and tell me.

Good luck. 🍀
