Cook Sunday Dinner With Me 🥘✨
Nothing says Sunday dinner like a full plate of spaghetti, chicken, and garlic bread! 🍝
If you’re looking for a quick and easy dinner, this is not it. ❌ This is a meal that takes care and skill to make it successful. ⏱️
I feel like most Sunday dinners are ones that just take a little extra time and love. 💜 What do y’all think?
This meal is something that I had to learn how to cook from the Internet. 💻 The spaghetti, I learned how to make from my mother. The chicken cutlet, though was not something that we normally had with our spaghetti. We normally did ground beef. The garlic bread I got for less than two dollars from the frozen food aisle though. Every part of the meal doesn’t need to be labor intensive. 🔨 Unless you want it to be. 😊
Let me know, would you eat this Sunday dinner and what are you having this week?
While my Sunday dinner might take a bit of love and time, I totally get why so many of us crave "easy homemade food." The good news is, you absolutely can create that comforting, from-scratch feeling without spending all day in the kitchen! It’s all about smart strategies and knowing where to playfully cut corners. 1. Embrace the Power of Prep-Ahead: Think of Sunday dinner as a marathon, not a sprint. I often tackle parts of my meal on Saturday. For instance, my spaghetti sauce? I make a big batch, let it simmer, and then it’s ready to go on Sunday. You can also chop your onions and garlic, or even bread your chicken cutlets the day before. Having these small tasks done makes the actual cooking day feel so much smoother and less overwhelming. 2. Smart Shortcuts: Your Secret Weapon: Remember how I mentioned getting my garlic bread from the frozen food aisle? That’s a prime example of a smart shortcut! No shame in it. For a "homemade" feel that’s still easy, consider using high-quality jarred pasta sauce as a base and then customize it with fresh herbs or a splash of red wine. Or, if you’re short on time for chicken, a pre-cooked rotisserie chicken can be shredded and added to your pasta or turned into a quick chicken parm by simply adding sauce and Mozzarella and baking. These little cheats save time without sacrificing that comforting, homemade taste. 3. Simplify Your Sauce, Not Your Flavor: If making a sauce from scratch feels daunting, start simple. A fantastic, easy homemade sauce can be as straightforward as sautéing some garlic and a little onion, adding a can of crushed tomatoes, a pinch of sugar (yes, like the OCR mentioned, a little sugar can balance acidity!), and some dried herbs. Let it simmer gently while you prepare other components. It’s quick, fresh, and tastes worlds better than opening a generic jar. 4. Cheese: The Ultimate Easy Flavor Booster: This is where those ingredients like Mozzarella and Parmesan truly shine! Don't underestimate the power of good quality cheese to elevate a simple meal into something extraordinary. For my chicken parm, a generous layer of shredded Mozzarella that gets bubbly and golden in the oven is non-negotiable. And a fresh grating of Parmesan cheese over the finished spaghetti? It instantly adds a salty, umami depth that screams "homemade" and delicious. Stocking up on these essentials makes it incredibly easy to add a gourmet touch to any dish. 5. Make Cleanup Easier for a Stress-Free Experience: An "easy" meal isn't just about cooking; it's about the entire experience. While your dinner is cooking, try to clean as you go. Soak pots, wipe down counters. This way, when you sit down to enjoy your delicious homemade feast, the thought of a mountain of dishes won't overshadow your enjoyment. Because, let's be honest, a good meal feels even better when the aftermath isn't a nightmare! By incorporating these tips, you can truly enjoy making homemade food that feels easy and rewarding, even when life gets busy. It’s all about finding your balance between effort and enjoyment!
