She did it!
On Friday,we I had the honor of watching my daughter Sana’a walk across the stage and receive her bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Management. As I watched her walk out, I became overwhelmed with emotion and tears rolled down my face because I thought about all the times she called me crying, feeling unsure 🥹 if she was going to make it…but God 🙌🏽
Watching her walk across that stage was one of the best feelings in the world because it reminded me that generational curses can be broken. I am so excited for her future and look forward to watching her continue her education, earn her master’s degree, and receive the career opportunities she has worked so hard for.
Sana’a never ceases to amaze me, but when she crossed that stage waving her African-American heritage flag, it meant so much more to me. It showed that she knows exactly who she is, understands the meaning behind those colors, and embraces where she comes from. As her mother, I could not have been more proud in that moment.
All the late nights, prayers, sacrifices, and tears have finally paid off.
