What does it mean when it says pre heat the oven?

What is the point of pre heating? How long do I need to pre heat for?

Am I pre heating the oven and the tray that the food is going on or just the oven and leaving the tray out?

... Read morePreheating your oven is crucial because it ensures that your food cooks evenly and at the right temperature from the moment you put it in. When you don't preheat, the food may not rise properly, leading to dense or unevenly cooked dishes. Typically, preheating the oven takes about 10-15 minutes, but this can vary based on the oven type and temperature. It's also important to consider whether to preheat the baking tray or just the oven itself. For dishes that require crispy bottoms, like pizzas and breads, preheating the tray is beneficial. Remember that some recipes might specify the ideal temperature and duration for preheating, so always check those details. Additionally, modern ovens often have indicators to signal when they have reached the desired temperature, which can help you avoid guesswork and improve your cooking results. If you're using a convection oven, it may reach the temperature faster, so keep that in mind when adjusting your preheat time.

how old are you to not know what preheating is😭 I knew this at 10. all it's doing is heating the oven up to the temperature the food needs to cook out.
