Best Things to Do in Valladolid, Spain 🇪🇸 | Part 1

Another Spanish city that deserves way more attention 👀

Just 1 hour by train from /Madrid, /Valladolid is the kind of place you can show up to with no real plan and still end up having an amazing time!

Great food, beautiful streets, and just enough to see without feeling overwhelmed.

Here’s where I’d start ⬇️

Best Things to Do in Valladolid, Spain 🇪🇸 | Part 1

⛲️ Plaza de Zorrilla – One of the most recognizable spots in the city, with the fountain, Valladolid sign, and surrounding buildings

🌿 Parque Campo Grande – A beautiful park right next to Plaza de Zorrilla, where you’ll find tree-lined paths, a pond, fountains, and peacocks roaming freely

⛪️ Iglesia de San Pablo – The details on the façade are simply incredible

🧆 Tapas at /Restaurante Jero – Some of the best tapas I’ve had in /Spain

🌎 Plaza de España – A lively square with the Fuente de la Bola del Mundo at its center

🛍 Calle de Santiago – This central street is lined with shops, cafés, and historic buildings

... Read moreVisiting Valladolid is like uncovering a hidden gem in the heart of Castilla y León. What I love most about this city is how effortlessly it balances rich cultural heritage with everyday charm. When I first arrived at Plaza de Zorrilla, the vibrant atmosphere—with its impressive fountain and iconic city sign—immediately drew me in. Nearby, Parque Campo Grande was a refreshing escape with its peaceful tree-lined paths and the delightful surprise of freely roaming peacocks, which added a whimsical touch to my stroll. A must-see for me was the Iglesia de San Pablo. The intricate details of its Gothic façade are truly mesmerizing up close, revealing Valladolid’s deep historical roots. I found myself lingering longer than planned just to admire the craftsmanship and take photos. When it comes to food, Restaurante Jero stands out as a must-visit spot for tapas lovers. Their dishes showcase authentic Spanish flavors with a special local flair that surprised and delighted me. Sampling a variety of small plates here made for a perfect casual meal that also felt like a culinary adventure. Plaza de España provided a lively backdrop to experience local life, centered around the beautiful Fuente de la Bola del Mundo. It’s a great place to soak up the city’s pulse and perhaps enjoy people-watching while sipping coffee at one of the many cafés lining the square. I also enjoyed wandering down Calle de Santiago, where shopping and history meet. The mix of charming shops, cozy cafés, and architectural beauty make it an ideal street to explore at leisure. Overall, Valladolid is a perfect day trip option from Madrid, offering enough to see and do without feeling rushed. Its combination of welcoming spaces, historic sites, and delectable tapas creates a travel experience that feels both genuine and effortlessly enjoyable. I highly recommend considering Valladolid for your next Spanish adventure—it truly deserves more attention!
