Upper body day is officially done… and if I’m being honest, it’s my least favorite workout day. 😅 But I showed up, put in the work, and pushed through anyway. Sometimes the biggest win is simply not talking yourself out of going.
I didn’t hit my step goal, but I got 7,587 steps and that’s still something to be proud of. A few months ago, I would’ve called that a successful day without thinking twice. Funny how our brains move the goalposts.
I also went a little off my meal plan today. I was craving something sweet, so instead of fighting it and ending up face-first in a pantry at 10 PM, I gave myself some grace and had a handful of dark chocolate-covered almonds. 🍫🌰
Because health isn’t about being perfect.
It’s about making choices you can live with.
Today is a rest day, and I’m excited because I’m setting up my new treadmill at home! 🚶♀️ That means no weather excuses, no scheduling excuses, and hopefully a much easier time getting those daily steps in.
Small choices. Small wins. Consistency over perfection. ❤️
... Read moreStaying consistent with fitness routines can truly be a challenge, especially on days when your motivation is low or when workouts aren’t your favorite. I've experienced this myself—there are upper body workouts I dread, yet showing up and pushing through them always feels like a victory in its own right. This mindset shift of viewing effort as a win rather than perfection helps maintain long-term commitment.
It's also common to feel like you've missed the mark if you don't hit all your goals perfectly, for example, step counts. For instance, getting 7,587 steps might feel like falling short of an 8,000-step goal, but reflecting on past standards can highlight actual progress—sometimes we unknowingly raise expectations too quickly. Being mindful of these small successes builds positive motivation.
Another valuable lesson is granting yourself grace with diet choices. Rather than rigidly restricting cravings and risking overindulgence later, allowing controlled treats, like a handful of dark chocolate-covered almonds, supports balance and sustainable health habits. It’s essential to remember that health is not about perfection but about making choices that are both enjoyable and manageable.
Introducing a treadmill at home can be a game changer. No more dependency on weather or strict schedules—you can take short walking breaks anytime, which helps increase daily activity and maintain momentum. It’s a practical home fitness upgrade that removes common barriers.
Lastly, simple daily habits, like doing a few squats after brushing your teeth or taking supplements like enzymes and fiber, add up to reinforce wellness over time. These small, consistent actions often create the foundation for bigger transformations, proving that fitness is more about persistence and manageable steps than dramatic leaps.
