Why You Avoid Hard Feelings
Avoidance is not laziness.
It is protection.
Most people do not avoid painful emotions because they are weak, dramatic, or “bad at healing.”
They avoid them because somewhere along the way their nervous system learned:
Feeling this might break me.
So you stay busy.
You numb out.
You overthink.
You scroll.
You intellectualize your pain instead of actually feeling it.
Because your body is trying to keep you safe from something it once believed was unbearable.
The problem is that what protects you in one season can imprison you in the next.
Healing often begins when you stop asking,
“What is wrong with me?”
and start asking,
“What happened that taught me this feeling was dangerous?”
That question changes everything.

That’s such a real callout because it’s easy to want the relief without sitting in the uncomfortable parts. Feeling it fully is usually what actually helps you move through it.
