I don’t wash my hair often… Here’s Why!!

I have an oily scalp and fine hair. It took me a long time to learn what my hair and scalp like. I used to wash my hair every day, but now I can go a couple of days between washes!

My haircare routine is pretty extensive, so I get a bit lazy about washing my hair often;but this routine works for me!

How many steps are in your haircare routine?

... Read moreManaging oily and fine hair can be tricky, especially when conventional wisdom suggests washing hair daily. Through my personal experience, I found that frequent washing actually aggravated my scalp's oil production, making my hair oilier faster. Switching to washing my hair every few days gave my scalp a chance to balance natural oil production, resulting in healthier, less greasy hair. A critical part of this routine is incorporating pre-wash oils, like the Briogeo Scalp Revival rosemary pre-wash oil I use. This step nourishes my scalp and prepares it for shampooing without stripping away necessary oils. Once a week, I also use clarifying shampoos like KÉRASTASE Chronologiste Bain Régénérant to deeply cleanse buildup that accumulates from products and environmental factors. Following up with a hair mask and peptides, such as the Briogeo Scalp Revival peptide prep, helps to strengthen my hair strands and soothe the scalp. Serums for scalp nourishment and to prevent premature graying have become staples in my routine, enhancing scalp hydration and nutrient delivery. Leave-in conditioners and heat protectants like the KÉRASTASE Paris Nutritive Nectar Thermique are essential for managing frizz and protecting delicate fine strands from damage during blow-drying or heat styling. For days when I need refreshment without washing, dry shampoos like K18 K13 Shake Well provide volume and absorb excess oil effectively. Nighttime serums help rejuvenate hair and scalp overnight, promoting overall hair health. By adopting this multi-step care routine, I have balanced my oily scalp while reducing washing frequency, which has led to stronger, healthier hair. If you have oily, fine hair, consider experimenting with less frequent washing combined with nourishing treatments to find what works best for your individual scalp needs.
