Mycelium Dreams! (+My ponysona through the years)

That’s right I’m that cringe, I got me a ponysona. And you know I gotta show their entire history too. Serves as a friendly reminder that artists do NOT start out magically good. Yes even the young ones that make you doubt your own skills. We all gotta start with absolute dogshit art we cringe at later down the line, but it’s the good cringe y’know?
Creating a ponysona is such a fun and deeply personal way to express yourself within the My Little Pony universe! It's like crafting a magical avatar that embodies parts of your personality, interests, and even your artistic journey. For me, that's Mycelium Dreams, and seeing her evolve over the years has been an adventure in itself. Let me tell you a bit more about Mycelium Dreams! She's a unique blend, a 1/2 unicorn and 1/2 goat ponysona, which gives her such a distinctive appearance. Her palette is primarily pink and purple, which I just adore, and it gives her a whimsical, magical feel. One of her most defining features is her mushroom-themed cutie mark – it’s a nod to my love for nature and all things fantastical. Beyond her looks, she even has magic abilities, which are super fun to imagine and incorporate into her story. And, of course, she's never without her trusty art bag, because what’s a creative ponysona without her supplies? I’ve loved refining her character sheet over time, starting from rough concepts like 'Mycelium Sketch' with its gray and white tones and green hair, to her current, vibrant form. It’s fascinating to look back at older drawings, like the one from 2014 with the gray pony and paint splatters, or the one from 2016. These early versions might seem simple now, but they were crucial steps in her development. Even the design dated 5-18-24, with the green goat-like pony and red mushroom cutie mark, shows how much thought goes into each detail. It's all about bringing out that 'mane attraction' quality, making her stand out among other MLP OCs. If you're thinking about creating your own ponysona or a female MLP OC, here are a few ponysona ideas to get you started: Combine animal traits: Don't be afraid to mix and match! Like Mycelium Dreams being part-goat, you could experiment with other animals to create a truly unique creature. Think about what traits you find interesting or personally connect with. Maybe a deer-pony, a fox-pony, or even something more exotic? Color Palette: Choose colors that represent you or the mood you want your ponysona to convey. Do you prefer bright and bold, or soft and pastel? My pink and purple choice for Mycelium Dreams really brings out her whimsical side.
