Our SG Apartment Glow-Up ✨ No Hacking Needed!

Ever felt stuck with a rental space you can't renovate?

We've been there! Instead of going for a full-blown renovation, we decided to give our Singapore apartment a major facelift using only styling. Here's how we did it:

🛋️ Strategic Furniture: We focused on Mid-Century Modern pieces that define zones and create flow. No built-ins needed!

💡 Statement Lighting: We used plug-in sconces and floor lamps to add warmth and architectural interest without touching the wires. A total game-changer!

🖼️ A No-Tools Gallery Wall: Command strips are your best friend! We created a personal gallery wall that tells a story and adds so much character.

🌿 Layers & Textures: From cozy rugs to linen curtains, layering textiles made the space feel instantly warmer and more lived-in.

Our philosophy is that any space can become a home with creativity and flexibility. Hope this inspires you to see the potential in your own space!

Save this for your future home inspo!

... Read moreWhen you're renting an apartment, especially in a city like Singapore, making the space truly feel like home can feel challenging without the freedom to renovate. From my experience, focusing on flexible and non-permanent design solutions is key. For instance, using command strips to hang a gallery wall allowed me to personalize my apartment without damaging walls—a practical and renter-friendly choice. Lighting also made a huge difference; plug-in sconces and floor lamps not only added warmth but also highlighted architectural details without rewiring. I found that layering textures—like adding a fluffy rug and linen curtains—brought a sense of comfort that a bare rental often lacks. Another great tip is to choose furniture that defines zones in an open plan, especially in smaller spaces around 800 square feet, similar to my 75m2 unit. Mid-century modern pieces are perfect for this because they're timeless and help create flow. Also, capitalize on natural light by using light-colored curtains and painting walls white to brighten the space instantly. In my apartment, switching to floor-to-ceiling curtains completely transformed the room’s atmosphere. Ultimately, this approach proved that you don’t need a full renovation—attention to detail and creativity can give any rental apartment a remarkable glow-up. If you’re in Singapore and looking for inspiration or wondering where to stay during renovation phases, remember that thoughtful styling is just as powerful as structural changes.

What We Saved On When Renovating Our Resale Flat
Sometimes what’s already there works perfectly well. We can always change it off when it spoils later when we start using them. For hygiene reasons, I feel things you should not reuse are toilet bowls, shower heads, washing machines and fridge. If you’re renovating a resale flat, don’t feel p
