Can anyone else relate?
As a mom, I’ve found that staying constantly vigilant can become second nature, especially when you rarely have time away from your kids. It's like being on high alert around the clock — your mind is always tuned to potential needs or dangers, making it difficult to truly unwind. This constant state of readiness is mentally exhausting and can lead to stress that’s hard to shake. What helped me was learning to deliberately schedule breaks and trust others with my children, even if only for a short time. Initially, it felt uncomfortable to let my guard down, but over time, these moments allowed me to recharge. I also practiced mindfulness and deep breathing exercises to help calm the “high alert” feeling and ease anxiety. Talking with other moms about these shared struggles made me realize I wasn’t alone. If you’re a mom who rarely leaves your kids, it’s important to remember that relaxing is not a luxury—it’s necessary for your well-being and for being the best parent you can be. Recognizing that being constantly on edge is a learned response opens the door to cultivating new habits that promote relaxation and peace of mind.
