Drain the pipes by opening faucets and flushing toilets to relieve pressure. Remove the old valve by unscrewing it carefully, making sure not to damage the surrounding pipes. Once removed, clean the threads for better sealing. When installing the new valve, wrap the threads with Teflon tape to prevent leaks, and securely tighten the valve to the supply line. Finally, turn the water supply back on and check for leaks by monitoring the new installation for a few hours. Proper installation of the supply valve not only enhances your plumbing system but also saves you from potential flooding and damage.
