Trying to perfect my Squats

2025/3/6 Edited to

... Read moreHey fitness fam! I know many of us are trying to get that perfect squat form, and honestly, it’s a journey! When I first started, my squats felt awkward, and I wasn’t sure if I was even hitting the right muscles. But through lots of research and practice, I’ve found some amazing tips that have seriously helped me nail the perfect squat position. First off, why is perfect form so important? It’s not just about looking good. Proper squat form prevents injuries, especially in your knees and lower back, and ensures you’re actually targeting your glutes and hamstrings rather than just your quads. Trust me, once you feel that deep glute burn, there's no going back! Here's what I've learned about achieving that perfect squat position: Foot Placement & Stance: Start with your feet roughly shoulder-width apart, or slightly wider, with your toes pointed out just a little (around 15-30 degrees). This stance often feels most natural and allows for better hip mobility. Experiment a bit to find what feels best for your body. Core Engagement is Key: Before you even start descending, brace your core like you're about to take a punch. This stabilizes your spine and helps keep your chest up. Don't underestimate the power of a strong core in your squats! Initiate with the Hips: Think about sitting back into an invisible chair, rather than dropping straight down. Your hips should be the first thing to move backwards. This helps activate your glutes from the very beginning of the movement. Knees Out, Not In: As you descend, make sure your knees track in line with your toes. A common mistake is letting your knees cave inward. If you struggle with this, try using a resistance band just above your knees – it’s a great cue to push them out. Achieve Depth (Safely): Aim to get your hips at least parallel to your knees, or even lower if your mobility allows and you can maintain good form. Deeper squats generally recruit more glute activation. If you can’t go deep yet, don't force it; focus on maintaining form and gradually improve your mobility. Weight in Your Heels: Throughout the entire movement, concentrate on keeping your weight in your heels, not your toes. You should be able to wiggle your toes at the bottom of the squat. This helps drive through your glutes and hamstrings on the way up. Keep Your Chest Up & Back Straight: Avoid rounding your back. Keep your chest proud and your gaze forward or slightly down. Imagine there's a string pulling your head up towards the ceiling. This helps maintain a neutral spine. My personal hack? I love doing box squats to really get the feel of sitting back, and goblet squats with a light dumbbell have been fantastic for improving my depth and balance while keeping my chest up. Remember, consistency and listening to your body are crucial. Don't get discouraged if it doesn't feel perfect right away. Keep practicing these tips, and you'll be rocking that perfect squat position for amazing glute gains in no time!

Why Squats Just Aren’t enough to grow glutes 🍑
Here’s why: 🍑 Squats spread the work around—hitting your quads, hamstrings, glutes, and even lower back. So your glutes don’t get that focused, isolated burn they need to grow. 🍑 Squats don’t fully extend your hips, which means your glutes don’t get the chance to fully fire up. 🍑 Moves li
