BMA reveals the top of Songkran waste on April 13, a total of 86.32 tons. Offensive campaign invites the people to splash, change the old water gun to "naphtha oil," reduce plastic waste.
Bangkok spokesman Ek Wurthu Amrapal released an overview of environmental management, storing waste with a report on the amount of waste stored during the Songkran Festival, finding that on April 13, 69, there was a total amount of 86.32 tons of waste, divided into 70.77 tons (81.99%) of general waste, 4.39 tons (5.08%) of recycled waste, 11.16 tons (11.93%) of food waste.
The areas with the highest waste volume are: Wind Road, Bang Rak District, 28.73 tons of general waste, followed by Rice Road, metropolitan area, 17.20 tons of general waste, Icon Siam, Weave Canal District, 6.87 tons of general waste, Courtyard, Asthom, Wai District, 4.82 tons of general waste, King Power, Chute, Rajdevi District, 3.33 tons of general waste, Siam Square, Pathum One District, 3.14 tons of general waste, RCA, Wah District, 1.50 tons of general waste, Central World, Pathum One District, 1.30 tons, Benjkiti Park, Toei Canal District, 1.29 tons of general waste, and Suteraram Temple, 0.80 tons of metropolitan area.
In 2026, Bangkok invited the public to "splash the joy of the world," open up to all types of plastic water guns that do not need to be used, to be processed into the process of processing "Naphtha oil" for raw materials, to produce plastic pellets and to form new products, such as chairs, containers, or clothing fibers.
As a whole, from Apr 11 - 13, 69, there was a cumulative total of 250 guns for the exposure of water cannons. On Apr 13, 69, from three main neighborhood pick-up points: Songkran, Khao Sai Road, Nakhon Songkran, 108 plastic water cannons, Songkran, Songkran Road, Bang Rak District, 70 plastic water cannons, Songkran World Water Festival 2026, Benjkiti Park, Khlong Toei District, 5 plastic water cannons can be separated, including 183 plastic guns that can be sorted only on Apr 13.
Mr Ek Wurapur added that Bangkok has provided full cleanliness and safety care staff with thanks to the people who are celebrating Songkran on the Thai way under the five-year measures (gun-free, alcohol-free, porn-free, powder-free, water-saving) and three practical measures (polite, health-care, cleanliness) that not only help build up the identity of good traditions to the eyes of foreigners, but are also an important part of reducing the burden of waste management and environmental protection for the city to move towards sustainability along the way.
