On this day, March 5th, many communities, including Latinos, reflect deeply on the political landscape that affects their lives and futures. From personal experience, I’ve seen how advocating blindly for one political party often leads to disillusionment. The complexities of capitalism and a two-party system that seem unchangeable can often result in division rather than meaningful progress. Being part of a Latino community myself, I recognize the frustration with promises that rarely fulfill our needs. The idea that "Capitalism can't be reformed" and that "the two-party system has failed us" resonates strongly in conversations around family tables and community gatherings. True empowerment comes from recognizing that unity across different groups provides strength, and working toward national liberation and self-determination is crucial. Engaging in these discussions, I’ve learned that political advocacy can take many forms beyond traditional party lines. Grassroots movements emphasizing collective action and self-governance often yield more tangible results for communities marginalized by entrenched systems. This reflection on March 5 serves as a call to action—to reconsider how our political affiliations align with our community values and to encourage solidarity that transcends partisan divides. When we stand united, the possibility of transformative change becomes attainable.
