Instead, I prefer to pick up a book or listen to calm music—activities that engage my mind without overstimulation. Sometimes, I practice simple breathing exercises to help calm my nervous system. For example, inhaling slowly for four seconds, holding for seven, and exhaling for eight helps reduce anxiety and prepares the body for rest. Additionally, keeping the bedroom environment comfortable—cool, dark, and quiet—has been crucial for me. To prevent boredom from fueling sleeplessness, I sometimes jot down my thoughts or to-do lists. This habit clears my mind from worrying about unfinished tasks, making it easier to switch off. If the restlessness persists, a short walk or gentle stretching can aid in releasing built-up tension. Overall, these approaches have improved my ability to manage those frustrating moments of boredom and insomnia. Everyone’s experience can differ, so trying various techniques helps in finding what suits you best.
