It’s so simple, and honestly, making it myself makes that warm cup even more special. So, here's my go-to method for brewing that golden goodness right at home! First, you'll need fresh ginger and turmeric roots. I usually grab a piece of ginger about 1-2 inches long and a similar size of fresh turmeric. You can peel them if you like, but I often just give them a good scrub, especially if they're organic. Then, I either thinly slice them or grate them. Grating releases more of those wonderful juices and flavors, giving you a stronger brew. Next, I bring about 2-3 cups of water to a boil in a small saucepan. Once it’s boiling, I add the sliced or grated ginger and turmeric. Reduce the heat to a simmer, cover, and let it steep for at least 10-15 minutes. If you like a really potent tea, you can let it simmer for up to 20-30 minutes. The longer it simmers, the more vibrant the color and the more intense the flavor and beneficial compounds you'll extract. After simmering, I carefully strain the tea into my favorite mug. Now, here's where you can really customize it! I love adding a squeeze of fresh lemon juice – it brightens the flavor and adds an extra vitamin C boost. A drizzle of raw honey or maple syrup makes it perfectly sweet, especially on those colder days. And for an extra kick and to help with turmeric absorption, I always add a tiny pinch of black pepper. Don't worry, you won't taste it, but it makes a big difference in how well your body can use the curcumin in turmeric! I find this GINGER & TURMERIC TEA to be incredibly versatile. I love sipping it first thing in the morning as a gentle wake-up call for my digestive system. It's also my absolute go-to whenever I feel a sniffle coming on, or after a tough workout to help soothe any lingering muscle soreness. And, of course, a warm cup before bed is just magic for unwinding and settling into a peaceful sleep. It really is a powerful part of my WellnessJourney, and I've even started exploring other herbal infusions, inspired by the idea of 'Judicious Juicing' in a way, but for teas! Experiment with quantities to find your perfect strength and flavor profile. Some days I crave a stronger, spicier brew, and other days I prefer it a bit milder.
