Milan Food Recos ☕️

... Read moreMilan is a city renowned for its rich culinary heritage and vibrant food scene that goes well beyond just pizza and pasta. Based on my visits to these popular food spots, I found that each place offers a unique experience that blends tradition with contemporary flavors. Starting with Osteria da Fortunata, it’s a great spot if you want to savor handmade pastas that give you a real taste of Milanese cooking. I especially enjoyed their fried mozzarella which had a perfect golden crust and creamy texture inside. The carbonara was a bit hit-and-miss but still worth trying alongside their sautéed potatoes. For those with a sweet tooth, Gelateria Umberto 1934 Milano stands out as a must-visit. Their pistachio and vanilla affogatos were sheer perfection — rich, creamy, and balanced with just the right bitterness from espresso. This was definitely my favorite dessert stop in Milan. If you want a modern twist on classic Italian desserts, Spun Tiramisu offers a unique texture blending creamy filling with crispy finger biscuits, though I wished it was served colder to enhance the flavors. Interestingly, Milan also has a great sushi scene, and Yolo Sushi impressed me with a hearty buffet at a highly reasonable price. The sashimi cuts were fresh, and the variety was abundant, making it an excellent option if you want something different. For light refreshing drinks, Foodie’s mango passionfruit bubble tea gave me a nostalgic feeling of the bubble teas back home. It’s great for a quick soothing break. Another highlight was Yangguofu, whose food quality compelled me to return for dinner on consecutive days — a true testament to their consistency. Venchi Cioccolato e Gelato offers classic Italian chocolates and gelato but didn’t live up to the hype from the long queues I had seen elsewhere in Italy. It’s still worth a visit for a quick indulgence but maybe not the star of the show. Bon Bon’s vanilla and limone flavored gelatos were refreshing and delivered on taste, adding variety to my Milan dessert tours. Lastly, Assaje Milano Segrino impressed with its cream, though I found myself wanting more ladyfingers for a better cream-to-cake ratio and a softer texture. Overall, Milan’s food scene caters beautifully to all cravings, from traditional Italian dishes to international flavors and innovative desserts, showcasing the city’s dynamic culinary culture. When visiting, give yourself time to experience these diverse spots — each bringing something deliciously unique to the table.
