Definitely a new genre for me but here’s my review

Parallel isn’t just a story — it’s a feeling. From the very first page, Elle O’Roark wraps you up in a world that feels heartbreakingly real and beautifully hopeful all at once.

This book speaks to the parts of us that are bruised, the dreams we thought we lost, and the quiet hope we still carry deep inside. The characters don’t just live on the page — they breathe. They hurt, they heal, they fall, they rise — and you feel every single step with them.

O’Roark’s writing is pure magic. It’s soft and fierce at the same time, gently reminding us that love — real, messy, soul-deep love — is worth fighting for. And that even when we’re shattered, there’s still a version of us, running parallel, waiting to be found.

If you’re craving a story that will move you, lift you, and leave you a little better than it found you, Parallel is the book you’ve been waiting for.

... Read moreDiving deeper into 'Parallel' by Elle O'Roark, what truly sets this book apart is its profound exploration of paths not taken and the enduring power of connection. When I first started reading, I was drawn in by the promise of a time travel romance, but what I found was so much more intricate and emotionally resonant than I anticipated. It's not just a journey through different eras, but a heartfelt exploration of what it means to heal, to find yourself again, and to recognize love in its many forms across the tapestry of time. Many books in this genre focus heavily on the mechanics of time travel, but O'Roark masterfully uses it as a backdrop for a deeply human story. The idea of "parallel storylines" isn't just a clever plot device; it feels like an emotional metaphor for the different versions of ourselves we navigate throughout life. You're left constantly pondering, what if? What if I had made a different choice? What if destiny truly does have a way of bringing souls together, even across vast stretches of time and circumstance? This narrative style makes the book incredibly immersive, pulling you into the characters' inner worlds and making their struggles and triumphs feel intensely personal. When I pick up a book that promises such emotional depth, I love creating the perfect reading atmosphere. Picture this: curled up with a warm cup of coffee, a flickering candle casting soft shadows, perhaps surrounded by some dried flowers, a cozy knitted blanket draped over my lap – just like the lovely flat lay with the book's dark cover and that intriguing clock face. That image perfectly captures the mood of 'Parallel': a story that invites you to slow down, reflect, and feel every word. The clock face, in particular, feels symbolic, hinting at the temporal shifts within the story without giving away any spoilers. It’s the kind of book you want to savor, letting the beautiful prose and deep emotions wash over you. While this review focuses on 'Parallel' as a powerful standalone experience, the depth of its world-building and character development definitely leaves you wanting more. The emotional journey feels complete, yet the universe O'Roark has crafted is so rich that it sparks curiosity about other stories that could exist within it. If you're searching for a book that will not only transport you through time but also deeply resonate with your heart, offering both comfort and a gentle challenge to look at love and loss differently, then 'Parallel' is an absolute must-read. It’s a testament to the idea that sometimes, the most profound love stories are those that unfold not just across miles, but across moments in time.
