Bird photography taught me about consistency

Finally, after few wkends of visiting, I got to meet this Common Kingfisher.

I had so much fun capturing this fast & furious little fellow in action — I haven’t done birds-in-flight photography for awhile, skill getting rusty! … it was challenging indeed.

But moments like this remind me why I love what I do — whether behind the camera or building my digital business. The chase, the patience, the skill… and the reward.

Just like in digital work, the hardest part is often not the action — it’s showing up consistently even when results don’t appear immediately.

This tiny kingfisher finally showed up — and so will your results when you keep taking the next shot.

... Read moreBird-in-flight photography, especially of a fast and vibrant bird like the Common Kingfisher, is a thrilling challenge that tests both your technical skills and your patience. When I started capturing these birds, the speed and unpredictable flight paths made it tough to get sharp, dynamic shots, reminding me how important consistent practice is. Over multiple weekends, my approach evolved—I learned to anticipate the bird's movements and quickly adjust focus. This not only improved my photos but deepened my appreciation for the species and its habitat. Watching the kingfisher dive and emerge with a catch provides an adrenaline rush that keeps me motivated. For fellow wildlife photographers, persistence is key. The kingfisher symbolizes how dedication pays off: patience in waiting, attentiveness in observing, and the readiness to snap the shutter at the perfect moment. In addition, understanding your camera settings for fast action—like shutter speed, aperture, and ISO—can make a huge difference in freezing motion without losing clarity. Experimenting with these settings over repeated attempts can steadily improve results, even when the subject is as quick as a kingfisher. Lastly, embracing this process of trial and error helps in more than just photography; it builds a mindset of resilience that carries over into other passions and pursuits. So whether you’re new or experienced, keep showing up and taking those shots—your breakthrough moment is just around the corner.

Consistency is Not a Prison Sentence
Everyone treats consistency like a perfect, unbroken chain. Miss a day and you "fail." But that’s not consistency—it’s punishment. 😑 Think about it: If you’re too busy for lunch, you don't eat a triple portion for dinner to "make up for it," right? So why do double burpees b
