One moment they’re little… now they graduate 🎓

Today is my son’s graduation day 🎓💛

And like many parents…

I’m just feeling very proud watching him reach this milestone.

Seeing him grow through the years,

finding his own path,

working hard,

and finally graduating today even with Merit…

really feels emotional as a parent.

As I sat there today,

I was also quietly reflecting on my own journey.

For the past 22 years,

being “my own boss” gave me something I’ve always treasured…

flexibility.

The flexibility to be part of my son’s growing up years.

His school activities,

important moments,

and milestones like today.

And honestly…

today reminded me how fast time really passes.

One moment they are little…

and before we realise it,

they’re already graduating.

I know many parents work very hard for their family.

But sometimes…

in the process of chasing income,

surviving daily responsibilities,

and building careers…

we quietly miss moments we can never get back.

That’s why flexibility became very important to me.

But over the years,

I also realised…

flexibility alone is not enough

if income becomes unstable.

Especially after COVID,

things became much tougher as a freelancer.

Even now,

while I’m thankful for opportunities to do ad hoc training,

the income can still be inconsistent.

That’s also one big reason

my WHY to build this digital business on the side.

Not just for extra income.

But coz it gives me another layer of flexibility and peace of mind,

so I can continue to be present

for the people and moments that matter most to me.

Today reminded me again…

success is not just abt money.

Sometimes,

it’s simply being there

for the milestones we never want to miss.

Very thankful to God for today 😊

And if u’ve also been thinking abt

having more flexibility in life,

especially as we grow older and prepare towards retirement…

maybe it’s worth starting to explore earlier,

instead of waiting till life forces us to.

... Read moreGraduation days are such bittersweet milestones in any parent’s life. I remember the mix of overwhelming pride and nostalgia as I watched my son walk across the stage to receive his diploma in Law & Management with Merit from Temasek. These moments remind me of how quickly children grow and why being present is so crucial. Having flexibility as a parent has been invaluable to me, especially to witness school activities and milestones like today. But it’s not just about being available; financial stability has to be part of the equation too. Since the pandemic, freelancing brought unpredictable income, which pushed me to explore building a digital business alongside. This helped me secure extra income and maintain peace of mind, allowing me to focus on my son and family without constant worry. If you’re considering how to support your child while also securing your future, it’s never too early to seek options that offer both flexibility and stability. Life moves fast, and opportunities to savor these cherished moments shouldn’t be missed. From one parent to another, I encourage you to plan ahead, embrace the journey, and celebrate every victory, big or small.

Amid all the graduation talk recently, I just felt like posting this- Also: I sometimes sense an air of judgement when I say I may need to do year 5? Even in 2026, I guess some stigma still exists… Feel free to leave your thoughts here~ Might make a part 2!
