Deity Work- ✨Relationship

In spirituality/occulitism there is a lot of flase information about deities and thier personalities because most people are surface level thinkers without doing the historical homework.

Chosing your deities/Historical homework- A lot of new age practitioners will choose deities for revenge, ego boost ,superficial reasons, or just to show off because they think they know everything (one who thinks knows all knows nothing). Make sure to research where the deities come from ( birth location, race, gender ,class, etc) , looks at thay deities like your finding your husband/wife. you have to do a background check. ✔️. All deities may not match with your personality, skill level, or lifestyle. EX. A lot of women want to work with erzulie freda but dont have good hygiene, dont have a self care routine, live in a dirty filthy place and dont believe in give and take. That spirt is very bougie and wants her offerings if not she can mess up your life. Doing the Historical research on each deities you want to work with is very important. Certain deities will never have a relationship with certain people because of race or even gender. EX. sehkmet works with women majority of the time , men can work with her but if you have a past of abusing women she may turn on that gender very quickly. she may not even answer to thats person request. some deties aren't even the original form because of renaming, colonization, modern reclassification. you have to make sure that deity is that deity.

Skill level and responsibility- Deties have hierarchies and different levels of frequencies. Being honest and matching at your skill level will make you a better student/spiritualist. Ex Santa Muerta or Erzulie ge rouge isnt beginners friendly. Those particular energies have a very heavy force when conjouring them because of thier Historical origin. ONe came from the Aztec empire and the other came from warriors of the Benin 🇧🇯 tribes. If your spiritually weak and not grounded those forces can consume you and it can turn into self destruction. Sometimes you can embody the dark shadow side of those spirits to the point where you can harm others because you're not balanced. WORK AT YOUR SKILL LEVEL AND TAKE YOUR TIME.

Ego/ deity NARCISSISM- THE EGO THE EGO THE EGO ESPECIALLY ON TIKTOK. LOL. omg I work with heteake i am so powerful so I can go around treating ppl like crap because I work with a deity so I am untouchable......pause. just because you work with a certain deity it doesnt mean automatic protection especially when your waging unessasary wars with other people because of flase sense of power. some people have higher spiritual ranking and sometimes those deities will choose that person that your working against because thier person heart/ spirit is soild or they didn't do anything. Thier are certain situation where your team can turn on you. The spiritual world isnt bias it's very black and white and its not fake. Check the ego check the cliques cause a lot of people love to work in coven against ppl and that one person can be your karma.one taking out a karmic group lol.

Do your homework, be leveled headed and dont bit off more than you can chew. some deties dont play and if you dont hold your end of the bargin they can find your world upside down... OK 👋 bye

... Read moreWhen I first started exploring deity work, I was overwhelmed by the sheer amount of information—and misinformation—out there. It felt like everyone had an opinion, but few offered practical, grounded advice. My journey quickly taught me that building a relationship with a deity is much like any other meaningful connection in life: it requires respect, effort, and genuine understanding. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned, echoing what’s been shared, is the absolute necessity of deep historical and cultural research. It's not enough to just like the 'vibe' of a deity or a striking image, like a multi-armed figure or a powerful dark-skinned deity with a crescent moon. We need to go beyond the surface. For me, this means diving into academic texts, ethnographies, and, most importantly, listening to the traditions and communities that have honored these spirits for centuries. What do their myths teach us? What do symbols like a 'skull crown' or a deity standing on a prostrate figure truly represent within their original context? Understanding these layers helps prevent misinterpretation and ensures we approach them with the reverence they deserve, rather than projecting our own modern ideas onto them. Another crucial aspect I've found incredibly helpful is establishing a sacred space and understanding the art of offerings. You don't need an elaborate setup; a clean, dedicated space, perhaps with a small cloth, a candle, and an image or symbol of the deity, is a perfect start. When it comes to offerings, it’s about thoughtful reciprocity. For spirits like Erzulie Freda, as mentioned, specific offerings are part of the tradition. But even for others, considering what they represent and what would be a respectful gesture is key. Is it fresh water, flowers, certain foods, or perhaps devotional acts like prayer or meditation? It's about giving from the heart and understanding that this is a two-way street of exchange and connection. Initiating connection and learning to listen has also been a transformative part of my path. It’s not always about grand visions or dramatic signs. Sometimes, it’s a subtle shift in energy during meditation, a recurring symbol in dreams, or a feeling of presence. Patience is paramount here. I’ve found that consistency in my practice—regular meditation, prayer, or simply quiet contemplation in my sacred space—helps to open those channels of communication. It’s about building trust and showing dedication over time. And always, I remind myself to stay grounded and discerning, especially when interpreting experiences. This helps avoid the pitfalls of an unchecked ego or mistaking personal desires for divine guidance. Ultimately, deity work, for me, has become a path of profound personal growth and ethical responsibility. It challenges me to be more disciplined, more humble, and more deeply connected to the spiritual currents of the world. It’s a continuous learning process, and approaching it with a sincere heart and a commitment to deep understanding makes all the difference.
