My love for reading started in middle school at the age of 11 and continued to grow as the years went on. My hobby was going to the library on the weekend to check out the maximum number of books and finishing them all within a week just to repeat the process the next week. Let’s just say I had a lot of time on my hands, and I absolutely loved it!! Whenever I had money, can you guess where I was at? Yep, Books A Million 😂. (Yes, I still have all of those books I’ve ever bought.)
As I got to high school, my love for reading continued. It was my escape from reality; A chance to live through fictional characters and intertwine myself into their world. I could sit for hours at a time to read a book while the everyday background noise of life was going on but I’m just too focused to care. It wasn’t until I got to college that my love for reading took a turn for the worst.
College drained me, stressed me out, beat me up but I made it through the 4 years! I didn’t find reading enjoyable anymore 😭 or rather I just didn’t have the time to read. I was always so busy and stressed with my coursework. I tried listening to audiobooks which did not help at all. If I even attempted to pick up a book, it remained unfinished and I lost interest within the first few pages. All reading just felt like a chore but I made it a goal to eventually get my love for reading back. After I graduated, that’s exactly what I did!
The one thing that really took me out of my book slump: Kindle!!!!!!!! Now I am a paperback book girly but those digital books did it for me! I read 13 books some of which were a series in 2 weeks. My love for reading is back and better especially since I’m venturing into the dark romance genre 👀🤭.
