Travel w/ Me Mammoth Cave National Park- Kentucky📍
One of my biggest bucket list goals is to visit every national park in the U.S. This weekend at the start of my birthday roadtrip, my husband stopped off at Mammoth Cave National Park in Kentucky and did the Domes and Dripstone tour that lasted about an hour and a half and was about $60 for the both of us. We’ve been to a decent amount of caves and taken their tours, but this one was massive.
The park offers several different tour options, and there is something like 260 miles of cave tunnels that are known to the park. We kept making jokes about how this tour reminded us of the movie “The Descent”. The metal staircase that took us down was so narrow and we had to crouch through a lot of the descent and be turned sideways. Apparently during certain times of year the park offers crawling tours where you are able to borrow coveralls and a miners hat with a lamp and you literally crawl through the smaller tunnel systems? My husband flat out was like absolutely not, but I think in a tour setting it could be cool? 🤷🏼♀️😂
Overall it was a way cooler tour that I thought it would be. We’d definitely never been in a cave system so massive, and the underground lake really surprised us.
