I've spent some time perfecting my homemade version, and let me tell you, it's a game-changer. While the basic recipe is fantastic, I've got a few extra tips to elevate your In-N-Out at-home experience. Mastering the Burger: Patty Perfection and Assembly For that authentic In-N-Out taste, the burger patty is key. You want to aim for a thin 'smash burger' style. When you're cooking your 1lb ground beef, press it down firmly on a hot griddle or cast-iron skillet – don't be shy! This creates that beautiful crust. Season generously with salt and pepper right before cooking. As for the cheese, American or Velveeta works perfectly for that melty, gooey texture. Pop it on the patty right after flipping so it has time to melt into submission. And don't forget to toast those brioche buns! A little butter on the cut sides and a quick toast on the griddle adds so much flavor and prevents sogginess. When it comes to assembly, the order matters. I like to spread a generous amount of that amazing homemade sauce on both bun halves.
