✨ Homo Finisher Book Review 🏁

When running teaches us to be "human beings doing it to the end."

New Year's like this, many people should be setting big goals, exciting New Year Resolution, but we often don't reach the stars because we are defeated by "fatigue" on the way.

This book is not just a book telling the story of Elder Eh's marathon, it interpolates the key ideas and skills of life, inviting you to evolve yourself into a new species called "Homo Finisher," or the Man Who Made (Everything) to the End.

This is a summary of the lessons of this book, from my point of view, who started the marathon from this book and trailed the Osaka Marathon.

1. Meaningful torture

In this book, Elder Eh writes about facing pain in the 30-35 kilometers, which is where the body tells me to stop, but the heart tells me to keep going, which is where we can finish.

Marathon suffering is a great lesson in learning ourselves. When we get through the cold and the pain to the finish line, our brains record:

"We can bear more than we think."

It's like a difficult job or project...

At a ton or want to quit, remember the feeling of the 35th kilometer that success is always on the other side of wanting to quit.

2. Concentrate on movement

The marathon is not just the use of legs, it is the use of concentration on the "present." Elder Eh describes cutting off from the outside world and then leaving with just breath and moving on.

Even though there are a lot of people around, the sound is stagnant, but inside we have to be still.

When I ran in Osaka, I targeted Sub-4 (finish in 4 hours), and I needed precise planning and consciousness control not to get out of the cold or tired.

To be honest, that day was a very difficult day for me.

Once I got through, I felt like I took a step further.

Working life in a very disturbing era, training as a Homo Finisher is focusing on the job one step at a time until the end of the job, which is an important skill to succeed in anything.

3. Discipline is "freedom," not "detention."

Many people view waking up to practice at 4 am as suffering (I also 😆), but the book says, "Discipline is what allows us to go where undisciplined people never go."

The fact that you touched the finish line in Osaka was not only the result of the day you ran, but the result of every day you went out to practice on a day you didn't want to run.

Sustainable success is no shortcut. It is the accumulation of miles.

In your working life, on a lazy day, tell yourself that this is a rehearsal to reach the "finish line" of the New Year's goal.

This new year, let's aim for Homo Finisher.

No need to start at Marathon, just start a planned 15-minute 'walk' or 'run' a day...Change from focusing on results (i.e., to being thin) to focusing on actions (i.e. to be done to the end)

Because life is like a marathon. It doesn't measure who starts the fastest, but it measures who doesn't stop until the finish line.

When you finish the marathon (or finish your set goal), you become a new, self-confident person...

I proved it in Osaka.

And I want you to experience it in 2026. 😁✨
