I have to admit that I rarely read the story of my neighbor (sorry), but I read this book and was depressed, sad, very distressed by the fate of the characters, especially the "grandmother" who almost every life suffered and lost because of the war, but was also a strong female character and tried to survive.

It is said that one robber, we still live, one house fire, we can still start over, but in the face of the atrocities of that war, we can lose our whole soul, because it is torn and broken, even breathing, without a step to the battlefield.

The novel is written from the experiences and hearsay of those who were present at the event. It is a story in the corner of the Vietnamese people that is not easy to read. It is a book that wants to be read quickly because of pity for the fate of the characters. But at the same time, the action is fun and inviting. It can be called almost breathless. The grandmother fleeing to the south is very heart-wrenching, seeing the cruelty of powerful people, and the war that devours the heart.
