Books I read this week📚

Rating: 4/5: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The last trip:

Kiersten Modglin delivers a wild, twist-filled thriller with The Last Trip. # Calvin and Sadie plan a peaceful babymoon at a remote mountain cabin, but their getaway quickly spirals into a nightmare. Strange behavior from the homeowners and shocking revelations about their relationship turn what

should have been a relaxing trip into a fight for survival.

This was a fast paced read that shocked me to my core. I’m not gonna give hints but read it.

The phantom limb:

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

identical twins Elizabeth and Emily are each other's salvation after years of abuse at the hands of their mother and her 'special friends. The girls were rescued and adopted by a kind family then lived together as adults. Emily's life was crippled with depression and agoraphobia, Elizabeth's life seemed much more balanced, until she found Emily's body. A stay in a secure hospital followed and Elizabeth realised how far the consequences of her past really reached.

Lots of triggers in this book. This had me so shocked, sad, and hooked. Another must read.

Not your biggest fan

Rating: 5/5: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I WAS OBSESSED!!! I could not put this book down!! This book is pure rom-com gold! Harlow James is a quirky, ambitious app creator, and Andy Burke is a confident NFL star with a secret sweet side. Their chemistry sizzles from the moment they meet over a food truck mishap, and the playful banter keeps you smiling the whole way through.

It's the perfect mix of humor, heart, and heat-complete with opposites-attract vibes, an adorable meet-cute, and a hero who falls hard (swoon alert!). This one delivers a light, fun, and totally addictive romance that'll leave you grinning. If you're into witty love stories with a touch of spice, this one's a touchdown!

The way we score

Rating: 5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

OMG THIS SERIES!!! PICK UP ASAP I CANT STOP READING IT AND NEED SO MUCH MORE. Liv is recovering from a messy divorce and grieving the news of her infertility when she has to go back to her hometown to care for her injured mother. She knows when she heads back home, she will have to face her high school ex, Garrett Bradford. Garrett is now an NFL lineman, but was once the love of her life until distance between colleges led to the end of their relationship. When the two are brought back together, one night of reliving old feelings leads to lines on a pregnancy test they never expected.

Rating 5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Dylan is the queen of hot peppers and once a week, she makes a special recipe and invites all to try it out. Dylan tries to be careful with her peppers but when she accidentally leaves some out, it created a very interesting meet cute with her brothers best friend, Logan Murphy.

Logan has a couple months off from professional football and he decides to spend time in Garrett's small town to take the time to reassess his life and decisions. Eating hot peppers unknowingly was not on his bingo card.

These two were so much fun to watch get to know each other and begin to connect. Dylan has such a great group of friends and family that protect their own fiercely. Special shout out to Craig who stole my heart with his wigs, dance moves and blunt comments. The chemistry between Logan and Dylan was palpable and spicy (pun intended). Their relationship grew effortlessly, and the playful banter was top tier. How they shared their vulnerabilities and fears with each other whether is was about Logan continuing his football career or Dylan diving back into dancing in some capacity added more depth to their relationship as it progressed through the story. Logan was so protective over Dylan and had no qualms with letting the world know she was his. And I can't forget to mention those late night FaceTime calls left little to the imagination!

I really LOVED that this book had no third act breakup but instead focused on a relationship that is genuinely entertaining and healing for both characters. And I'm already dying for Zane's book next!

... Read moreThis week, Maddy shares her thoughts on a range of compelling reads that promise a potent mix of suspense, emotional depth, and romance. 'In The Last Trip', Kiersten Modglin crafts a chilling narrative about Calvin and Sadie, whose serene babymoon quickly descends into chaos when they face unsettling surprises in the mountains. The story masterfully flaunts twists that keep the reader engaged, making it a suspenseful journey worthy of its accolades. If you enjoy thrillers, this book is a must-add to your reading list. Switching gears to the deep emotional narrative of 'Phantom Limb' by Lucinda Berry, we witness the struggles of identical twins as they confront their harrowing past. The exploration of mental health themes like depression and agoraphobia serves as a poignant reminder of the toll that trauma can take, and Berry's storytelling captivates as it addresses heavy themes with authenticity. For a lighter option, 'Not Your Biggest Fan' offers a delightful escape into the world of quirky characters and unexpected connections. The chemistry between Harlow James, an ambitious app creator, and NFL star Andy Burke is irresistible. This romantic comedy delivers giggles and swoons in equal measure, blending humor and heart effectively. Maddy also highlights the 'The Way We Score' and 'The Way We Touch', both by Tia Louise, which delve into themes of second-chance romance and emotional healing. These narratives are rich with character development and engaging dialogue that explores love and vulnerability. If you're a fan of heartfelt connections and gripping storylines, these selections will not disappoint. Enhance your reading list this week with these captivating titles!
