I better get moving 😅🤣
Moving back to the US after spending most of my 20s in Italy was a profound transition, filled with unexpected emotional challenges. In Italy, there’s a different cultural narrative around age and life stages—being nearly 30 there feels like reaching an age of maturity but still holding the potential of youth. Returning to the US, I immediately sensed a distinct societal pressure as many around me were embracing milestones like marriage or parenthood, which made me reflect deeply on my own path. This experience highlighted to me how cultural context shapes our expectations and feelings about age and achievement. The pressure felt overwhelming at first—like I was suddenly 'behind'—but I quickly realized that these milestones are not universal timelines but personal ones. Embracing this mindset helped me breathe and relax, focusing on my unique journey instead of societal checklists. If you’ve moved internationally or are navigating shifts in your late 20s, it’s important to recognize the mental and emotional work involved in adapting to these differences. Allow yourself time and patience; what feels like a societal 'deadline' is often just noise. Personal growth and finding joy in your own timing can redefine success and fulfillment. Sharing this has been a reminder to myself and hopefully supportive for others going through similar changes.
