Healthy Girl Habits for 2024!💓

Hello beautiful people! 🫶

Healthy habits have completely changed my life since I started implementing them into my routine a year ago. 🥹 I want to share a list of healthy habits for beginners that I’ve been practicing & new ones I’ve added in 2024! 📝 I hope these help guide & inspire you to implement healthy habits of your own this year! 🥳

1. Daily Movement 👟

- Since the new year, I’ve been trying to go to the yoga studio 2-3 times a week & doing online classes in between! 🧘‍♀️ Going to yoga classes consistently has seriously helped my mind & body feel SO much better. I feel way more relaxed & motivated. I’m also excited that spring is coming, so I can implement hot girl walks & pickleball into my routine again! 😍 I’ve already started talking to my friends about choosing a day to hit the pickleball courts once a week this summer & I'm so eager to start!

2. Weekly Journal & Affirmations 📔

- Affirmations & journaling are my two best friends! This is a habit I picked up last year & will 100% be continuing to do them moving forward.👏💖

3. Night Routine 🛏️

- I’ve always been a morning routine kind of girl compared to night. With that being said, this year, I really want to focus on my night routine! 😴 Since the new year, I’ve been trying to get in the habit of winding down by 7:00 pm. 🫣 There are days where there are exceptions to this of course, but doing this gives me time to clean my room, lay out my clothes for the morning, fit in 20 minutes to an hour of yoga, get ready to cozy up & read a book before bed! ☺️

4. Habit stacking🎧

- Listening to self-help podcasts while I cook, clean, or drive/walk is something I do every single day. 🤩 I feel like doing this has helped me learn & grow so much as a person & these podcasts help motivate me to work toward my goals! 🙌

5. Healthier food alternatives 🥑

- Being in college can make eating healthy difficult, but I’ve been trying to make simple switches to make myself feel better overall.👍🏼 It’s not about dieting or constantly thinking about what I’m eating. I’ve just spent more time cooking at home & choosing healthier alternatives, as opposed to eating fast food several times a week. 🤷🏻‍♀️

6. Increased water intake💧

- Every morning as soon as I wake up I drink water. I also make an effort to drink at least 6 glasses a day, which is HUGE for me. I’ve never been a big water drinker, so this progress is something I hope to continue to grow this year.

It takes time to get into the routine of new habits. 🕕 When implementing a new habit into your routine, there are definitely going to be times when you’re motivated to check that habit off for the day & other times when you miss the habit. That is NORMAL & completely okay! 😌

The process is never going to be perfect & it takes time to get used to something new. It’s important to be gentle with yourself & do what’s best for you! 💕It’s also okay if you try a new habit & find out it doesn’t work for you. TRUST me, it’s happened to me multiple times! Habits are SUPPOSED to be adjusted to each person's individual needs. 😇

When I first started, I was totally overwhelmed, just like many of you searching for "beginners guide to HEALTHY GIRL HABITS 2024." It felt like there was an endless list of things I should be doing. But what I've learned is that it's not about perfection; it's about consistency and finding what genuinely makes you feel good. One area I've really focused on is DAILY MOVEMENT. Beyond just my yoga and pickleball, I've discovered the joy of simply moving my body in ways that feel good. On days I can't hit the studio, even a brisk 20-minute "hot girl walk" listening to my favorite podcast can boost my mood and energy. If you're struggling to start, try dancing to your favorite songs for 15 minutes, or doing a quick bodyweight routine at home. The key is to make it enjoyable, so it doesn't feel like a chore. What kind of movement makes you happy? That's your starting point! Another huge shift has come from being more mindful about HEALTHIER FOOD ALTERNATIVES and INCREASED WATER INTAKE. As a college girl, I totally get how easy it is to grab fast food. But I've found simple swaps make a world of difference. Instead of ordering out, I've started prepping a big batch of quinoa or roasted veggies on Sundays. Then, throughout the week, I can easily throw together a nutritious bowl. For snacks, I reach for fruit, nuts, or Greek yogurt instead of chips. And water? I used to be terrible! Now, I always have my trusty Owala water bottle by my side. I challenge myself to finish it twice before lunch. If you're a beginner, try adding lemon or cucumber to your water to make it more appealing, or setting a reminder on your phone every hour to take a few sips. These small changes really add up to a healthier lifestyle routine. HABIT STACKING has become my secret weapon for consistency. My original post mentioned listening to podcasts while doing chores, but I've expanded on this! Now, while my coffee is brewing in the morning, I do 5 minutes of stretching. When I'm waiting for a meeting to start, I'll quickly jot down 3 things I'm grateful for. It's about finding those little pockets of time where you can "stack" a new, healthy behavior onto an existing one. This makes new habits feel less like an extra task and more like a natural part of your day, helping solidify that healthy daily routine schedule. And finally, refining my NIGHT ROUTINE and incorporating WEEKLY JOURNAL & AFFIRMATIONS has been incredible for my mental well-being. Before bed, instead of endless scrolling, I've started reading a physical book or doing a quick guided meditation. This helps my mind truly wind down. For journaling, it’s not about writing pages and pages every day. Sometimes, I just list three wins from the day or one thing I want to improve tomorrow. Using affirmations like "I am capable" or "I am growing" (as seen in my journal!) helps reframe my mindset. Remember, your wellness journey is unique. It's okay to experiment, adjust, and be kind to yourself. You're building a foundation for a healthier, happier you in 2024, one small habit at a time!
