BE STILL AND KNOW GOD IS WITH YOU | PART 3
Beloved, in a world that constantly moves, where our minds are filled with noise, worries, and endless distractions, God calls us to something deeper: a moment of stillness in His presence. When you pause and breathe in His Word, you begin to feel His peace washing over every anxious thought. Psalm 46:10 reminds us: “Be still, and know that I am God.”

Sometimes, in the whirlwind of daily life, I find myself rushing, my mind buzzing with to-do lists and worries. It feels impossible to just... stop. But then, a quiet whisper reminds me of Psalm 46:10: "Be still, and know that I am God." This isn't just a suggestion; it's an invitation to a deeper peace that genuinely transforms anxious moments. What does "be still" truly mean for us today? It’s more than just physical quiet. For me, it’s about intentionally quieting the noise within – the endless thoughts, the anxieties about the future, the regrets about the past. It’s about consciously choosing to loosen my grip on things I can't control and entrusting them to a higher power. It's an act of surrender, a deliberate pause to recalibrate my spirit. And the second part, "know that I am God," is where the real power lies. When I truly pause and acknowledge His sovereignty, His immense power, and His unwavering love, my perspective shifts. My problems don't disappear, but they shrink in comparison to His greatness. It's a reminder that I'm not alone, and I don't have to carry every burden myself. He is in control, even when everything feels chaotic around me. Practicing this stillness has become a vital part of my spiritual routine. It might be a few minutes of silent prayer early in the morning, or simply taking a deep breath and consciously letting go of a stressful thought during the day. Sometimes, I just sit and meditate on a verse, letting its truth seep into my soul. I've learned that consistent, even small, moments of "be still in His presence" can make a profound difference. The Bible is full of wisdom on this very topic. I often think of Psalm 37:7, which advises us to "Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for Him to act." This reinforces the idea that stillness is intertwined with patience and trust. It reminds me not to fret or worry about the way things seem to be going, but to trust in God's perfect timing and justice. It’s a powerful antidote to comparison and envy. Another verse that resonates deeply is from Psalm 62:5-6: "Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will not be shaken." This passage beautifully illustrates that when we embrace stillness, we anchor our hope in God, finding an unshakable foundation amidst life's storms. It tells me that my security isn't in my own efforts or circumstances, but in Him. My fortress is His presence. And who doesn't need renewed strength? Isaiah 40:31 offers such a comforting promise: "But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." This verse connects directly to the concept of being still and waiting on God. It's not passive waiting, but an active, hopeful expectation that brings spiritual, mental, and even physical rejuvenation. When I feel depleted, these words encourage me to stop striving and instead, wait on Him. Finally, the message of patience from James 5:7-8 often comes to mind: "Therefore, brothers, be patient until the Lord's coming. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth and is patient with it until it receives the early and the late rains. You also must be patient. Strengthen your hearts, because the Lord's coming is near." This analogy of the farmer reminds me that spiritual growth and God's interventions often require a season of patient waiting and trust, much like the stillness he asks of us. Embracing "Be still, and know that I am God" has shifted my perspective and brought a profound sense of calm to my life. It’s a daily practice, a moment-by-moment choice to rest in His presence and trust His unfailing love. I encourage you to find your own moments of stillness and discover the deep peace that comes from truly knowing God.
