Still blows my mind that I would be doing CrossFit. It's so rewarding getting to work on strength training as apart of marathon training for NYC this year!
Reassurance is not a sign of weakness but a sign of improvement!

Integrating CrossFit into marathon training can seem unconventional, but it offers a unique way to enhance overall athletic performance. From my experience, incorporating movements like power snatching and weightlifting not only builds strength but also improves coordination and body awareness, which are crucial for long-distance running. For example, focusing on proper stances and body positioning during lifts translates to better running form and injury prevention. A valuable part of this journey is having a knowledgeable coach who provides reassurance and constructive feedback on movement flow. This support helps pinpoint areas for improvement rather than seeing feedback as criticism, turning what could feel like weaknesses into actionable growth points. As someone relatively new to CrossFit, I've found that feeling comfortable with weight balance and lifting techniques vastly improves confidence both inside and outside the gym. Additionally, strength training strengthens muscles that aerobic endurance alone may not target, such as core, hips, and shoulders. This can contribute to increased running efficiency and reduce fatigue over marathon distances. Embracing reassurance as a sign of progress rather than weakness fosters a positive mindset that encourages continued improvement, making the combination of CrossFit and marathon training a rewarding fitness journey.
