Book Review

Book name: A Novel Love Story 💌

Author: Ashley Poston

Genre: Romance 💘

Intro: What if you ended up in your favorite fictional town? Where the burgers are always slightly burnt, the taffy always sticks to your teeth, and everything always works out in the end. Oh and there’s a hot bookstore owner.

My rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

My review: I absolutely loved this book! As an avid reader, and lover of romances, the idea of accidentally stumbling across my favorite characters living their lives in a small town sounds like a dream! I enjoying reading how Elsy interacted as a ‘real’ person amongst her favorite fictional characters and how she grew to become and stronger/happier person along the way. Overall a very fun and cute read.

... Read moreWhen I first picked up 'A Novel Love Story' by Ashley Poston, I was immediately drawn in by the premise: what if you could literally step into your favorite book? As a bookworm who spends countless hours lost in fictional worlds, this concept resonated with me deeply. The vibrant blue cover, with its colorful yellow, pink, and teal lettering and the whimsical illustration of a person entering a book, perfectly set the stage for the magical journey inside. It wasn't just a cover; it was an invitation to adventure. Ashley Poston has a way of crafting stories that feel both fantastical and incredibly real. In this novel, Elsy, our protagonist, finds herself in her favorite fictional town, where everything is just a little bit off-kilter but in the most charming way. The description in the original review about the slightly burnt burgers and sticky taffy? Absolutely spot on! It's these small, quirky details that made the town feel so alive and immersive. I found myself wishing I could visit this place, perhaps browse the bookshelves at the charming local bookstore run by a certain handsome owner. What truly made this book a five-star read for me was Elsy's personal journey. It’s not just about her meeting fictional characters; it’s about her growth. Seeing her interact with characters she’d only known through pages, and then evolving into a stronger, happier person herself, was incredibly inspiring. As someone who often finds comfort and escapism in books, I understood her initial reluctance to face reality, but her transformation throughout the story was beautifully portrayed. It felt like she was learning to write her own happy ending, even outside the confines of a pre-written narrative. For readers who, like me, adore stories that blend romance with a touch of fantasy and self-discovery, 'A Novel Love Story' is an absolute gem. It’s more than just a typical romance; it’s a love letter to books, to fandom, and to the power of finding yourself. The emotional beats are perfectly balanced with lighthearted humor, making it a joy to read from start to finish. If you’re looking for a book that will make you smile, make you believe in a little magic, and perhaps even inspire you to look at your own life in a new light, then this is definitely one to add to your reading list. The quote from Sophie Cousens on the image – though I can’t quite recall it now – would surely capture this sentiment perfectly. Ashley Poston has truly delivered a story that not only entertains but also leaves a lasting, warm impression. I can easily recommend this to anyone browsing the bookshelves for their next delightful read.
