what i read in a week

back on my reading grind with 6 books this week! reading the striker by ana huang was extra special since i went to her midnight release in nyc. any other books i should add to my tbr?

book summaries:

Wild Eyes - Country music star Skylar Stone, desperate for a break from her controlled life, escapes to the small town of Rose Hill to record at Wild Rose Records, hoping for a fresh start. Soon after arriving, she encounters West Belmont, a charming single dad and horse trainer who saves her from a close call with a grizzly bear. Despite her fame, West treats her like a real person, creating a unique connection that Skylar finds irresistible. As they navigate close quarters, Skylar must decide if she's willing to risk it all for a love she never expected.

The Striker - Asher Donovan, one of the world’s top soccer players, has sparked controversy with his reckless antics and recent team transfer; when his feud with his rival-turned-teammate, Vincent DuBois, costs them a championship, they’re forced to ‘bond’ during off-season cross-training. Scarlett DuBois, their new trainer and Vincent’s sister, is completely off-limits. The former prima ballerina vowed never to date a soccer player again, but when her brother leaves town for an emergency, she finds herself alone with Asher, struggling to keep her guard up as she realizes just how much he could mean to her—and how easily he could break her heart.

Here For The Cake - Paisley Royce is dreading a week on an island as the maid of honor for her sister’s wedding to her ex-boyfriend. Things change when she runs into her college frenemy, Klein Madigan, and they strike a deal: he will be her fake date for the wedding in exchange for her marketing help to promote his upcoming book. As they navigate the week together, old sparks reignite, and they both begin to question if their fake relationship might be something more.

Play Along - Kennedy Kay, the only female athletic trainer for the Windy City Warriors, finds her professional reputation at risk after a drunken night in Las Vegas leads to an impulsive marriage with Isaiah Rhodes, the team’s charming shortstop. To protect her job and maintain her dream of leaving the team, they agree to stay married for one baseball season while pretending their elopement was planned. As Isaiah tries to prove he’s husband material, Kennedy grapples with her feelings for him and the challenges of working under a sexist lead doctor.

Two Can Play - Viola Bowen gets the opportunity of a lifetime to design a video game based on her favorite book series, but her co-lead is her arch-nemesis, Jesse Andrews, who has made it clear he wants nothing to do with her. To encourage collaboration between their competing companies, both teams are sent on a winter retreat, forcing Viola and Jesse to confront their animosity and discover the truth about their feelings for each other. As the snow falls outside, their heated rivalry transforms into something more, challenging them to work together for the project’s success.

Out On A Limb - Winnifred "Win" McNulty has always been fiercely independent, determined to prove she can manage on her own despite her limb difference. That changes after a one-night stand with the charming Bo, a complete stranger. As they navigate their new connection, Win grapples with whether she can continue to handle everything by herself or if she might need help. Though they agree to remain just friends, they soon realize that life often has other plans, and their connection may deepen beyond their initial intentions.

... Read moreWow, what a week it's been for my bookshelf! I truly got back on my reading grind and managed to devour six fantastic romance novels. It's always a treat to find books that pull you in, and this batch certainly did not disappoint, especially for anyone hunting for spicy romance books with engaging plots. If you're wondering what book should I read next, let me tell you, I've got some absolute gems for your TBR pile. I noticed many of you are searching for best enemies to lovers books, and 'Two Can Play' by Ali Hazelwood, with its intense 'rivals to lovers' dynamic, is a prime example of how this trope can be executed flawlessly. The tension was palpable! Also, 'The Striker' by Ana Huang, which involves a 'brother's rival' turning into something more, brings that delicious forbidden aspect to the sports romance genre – and yes, going to her midnight release in NYC made it extra special for me! For those who adore a good rom com book to read, 'Here For The Cake' featuring an irresistible 'fake dating' scenario, and 'Play Along' with its hilarious 'accidental marriage' plot, delivered all the laughs and heartwarming moments I could ask for. They're perfect if you need a lighter, feel-good escape that still packs a punch. And let's not forget the variety! 'Wild Eyes' offered a charming 'single dad' romance that felt incredibly sweet and genuine. It’s a reminder that love can be found in unexpected places, even for a country music star trying to escape. Then there's 'Out On A Limb,' which explored deeper themes of independence and connection, starting from a one-night stand and navigating the complexities of 'accidental pregnancy' – a truly unique and emotional read. What I love about these romance novels is how they cover such a wide spectrum of experiences and emotions. Whether you're into the intense heat of a spicy romance novel or the heartwarming journey of personal growth, there's something here for everyone. These aren't just stories; they're an escape, a way to connect with characters and feel their journeys. When I'm deciding on my next read, I usually think about what kind of mood I'm in. Do I want a slow burn or instant attraction? A powerful heroine or a brooding hero? Diving into communities like #lemon8bookchallenge and #booktok really helps me discover hidden gems and see what others are loving. It’s like having a personal book club right at my fingertips! So, if you're looking for your next best books to read, especially in the romance genre, I highly recommend checking out these six. They offer everything from sizzling chemistry to heartfelt connections, making them ideal romantic books to read any time of year, including for spring break reads! Happy reading, fellow bookworms!
