Since romantasy is my favorite, I like to group my picks by fae stories, dark villains, or epic fantasy romance. One standout from my recent haul is "This Gilded Hymn" by Rebecca Thorne, a USA TODAY bestselling author. The descriptive phrase "bioluminescent ocean" alone sparked my curiosity—it suggests a magical, glowing world that feels immersive and unique. I’ve found that looking for evocative keywords in blurbs can help prioritize what to read next by mood or setting. Another great method is to consider story elements that excite you, such as quirky sidekicks or villain-driven plots. For example, Andrea Andersen’s "Villain Sidekick of Ashes" intrigued me because I enjoy complex characters on the fringes of the main heroic tale. Plus, books spotlighted at BookCon often share fresh perspectives or unique mythologies, like the fae-rich world in "Lore the Owilds" by Analeigh Sbrana. Setting mini reading goals also works well. For instance, I plan to read three books from my BookCon buys before adding new ones. This keeps my TBR manageable and makes the reading adventure feel rewarding rather than daunting.
